I mostly finished knitting my fair isle scarf Saturday while at my knitting group. The pattern, made with 8 colors, was part of a Rowan knit-a-long by Martin Storey. The scarf is knit in the round creating a tube, which becomes a double thickness scarf 74"×13" when laying flat. It has 12 pattern panels, 2 panels are repeats and 10 are unique. I still need to tie in the loose ends on the inside and then sew closed the ends. That will go quickly, and since it looks finished minus the loose yarn on one end, I was okay when my friends insisted on taking a photo.
I knit this to wear with my new long down coat from Aritzia, purchased because it's big enough to wear over heavier knitted sweaters and blazers. It needed a larger accessory like this. I haven't done colorwork before, other than one pillow, also designed by Martin Storey. The pillow was a small project in comparison. (Picture below of pillow and Brava). I'm happy with the results.
The scarf is obviously not styled with the coat. I look forward to wearing it next winter. Maybe I can make a hat of some sort. I'm open to ideas for hats.
Please ignore the gym clothes. I had an Agility class with the pup before knitting....
