New Golden Boots

I first fell in love with this Seychelle Lucky Penny boot when I saw Parsley wearing it awhile back. She has the silver version. I was out of my mind happy to see they offered it in a distressed gold. Well, they are so fab and fit so well that I would recommend these to any of you who need a casual metallic boot. The Lucky Penny also comes in other colors, check on Zappos or Nordstrom. I got mine on Zappos and they arrived so fast it blew my mind.

I have the pewter and like you I was attracted to the nice fit--soft suede leather. However, I must confess I think they are feeling a bit lonely in my closet. I've worn them a couple of times, so they're not on full orphan status yet. I haven't felt appropriate wearing them to work and I don't seem to have enough other occasions, or I'm not steppin' out, or something. A couple of times I chose a skirt and other footwear instead, so not sure what that means--are they outside of my comfort zone and I'm voting with my feet (!) or do I have too many choices, or what.

Maybe you can inspire me to more outfits or how to work them in!

I'd also feel a lot more relaxed if I could think of them as being still an option next year. I surely can't justify having a new metallic option every year. I have room for a few items that are worn during certain seasons or occasions, but not for a lot.

Oh, yay, Karen- those look perfect for you! I can't wait to see how you style them!
I have worn mine (pewter) way more than I thought I would, and they never fail to get compliments. And of course it doesn't hurt that they're some of the most comfortable shoes I own.
Unfrumped, yours looked great on you. I'm surprised you're not wearing them much. Maybe you just need to make yourself try some outfits with them, and they might surprise you by becoming favorites.

I tried on the navy suede at DSW, but I didn't bite. They did feel very comfy and were cute.

I shall live vicariously through all the Fabbers who purchased the metallic versions. Every time I try on a statement shoe, it just doesn't look right to me. Guess, I don't like attention on my feet. :0

Parsley, I was okay for going out in the evening, and I'd be okay for smart casual days, but I don't have that many of either of those! Will try harder.

Dare I push the envelope at work? Not sure I'm comfortable. One option I should remember is, perhaps., to start with lower-contrast trousers? So they kind of sneak up on you. I'll check on that.

I have those in silver -- they were my favorite buy of the season! I'm so excited several of us have them! They are so, so comfortable.
I wear them with jeans (straight leg white, dark blue, black, and worn-in) ALL THE TIME. Also with my gray wool shift dress and gray ribbed tights. I think they look fantastic with tights; something about the shape of the bootie on the side and the way they fit your foot.

Unfrumped...I say push the envelope at work. Whenever I do I end up discovering that the envelope didn't get pushed as hard or as far as I thought it would. I personally find it easiest to push on Fridays, it seems like less is going on, and everyone's just a little more relaxed

Could someone post a picture of these boots in an outfit with a skirt or dress? I am considering the silver ones but need to mind the gap!

It's so funny, I don't think of these as pushing the envelope at all since they are so distressed. They are not like a lot of other metallic shoes that are reallly shiny. It's interesting how we can differ on what is "out there" and what is in our comfort zone.

Unfrumped I think you should just think of this boot as a "grey boot." Then you won't be so scared of it and you will see how great it looks with so many of your things. Light blue jeans, white jeans, grey jeans or trousers would all look so great for starters. There won't be so much contrast between the shoe and the pant so they won't "jump out" at you. Maybe pull the metallic theme up to your face with silver or pewter buttons, hoop earrings, or a cool scarf with a silver metallic lame thread.

Gah, I love those! Need to stop myself from ordering the silver, but darn they are tempting. I have sparkly gunmetal booties (Rag & Bone Newburys) but they have a significant heel, and sometimes I want lower ones. I love that muted metallic too.

I just bought these in pewter and can't wait to see how you style yours, karymk! I was SO tempted by the gold, as it would have bookended my hair much better, but I ended up with the pewter as so much more of my limited winter wardrobe is greys and blacks. I was hoping that the metallic/lightness of them would still bookend and provide some balance. I love the distressing SO much, and they are tremendously comfortable right out of the box, not to mention the ideal heel height. I wore them for eight hours plus on their first outing! So far I've only worn them with dark denim skinnies and bootcuts, but I love Viva's skirt and tights look, and I cannot wait to see what you come up with for yours! With your fabulous style, I'm sure you will hit it out of the park!
