Maya, maybe I am more "out there" than most, but I wore a dress similar to the third one (the red one) to my high school prom and then again to a wedding several years later when I was dating a man in the wedding party. It didn't have the architectural bit about the hips, but did have almost an architectural shawl collar detail. Mine was a bright olive green and I wore it with a pair black peep-toe slingback heels and a peridot (lime green) stone filigree bracelet. For prom i wore a wavy retro hair style and red lips, but went with a chignon and a natural look for the wedding. While "prom" isn't exactly real life, I looked very appropriate at the wedding sitting next to my then-bf and the ladies in the wedding party who were wearing long gowns-- still like a guest, but I didn't stick out like a sore thumb in the few wedding photos I was asked to be in.
I could also see many women (with the right body type) wearing the first dress as a cocktail dress. It could even be belted. Very modern in my opinion.
I think the purple dress would be appropriate for weddings and other occasions as well.
The fourth would look great on some of the pear shaped ladies (and others) and show off lovely collar bones, especially at dressy holiday parties.
Both of the dresses that were linked two by other forum members are very wearable too! I can see the navy one with some espadrilles or heeled strappy sandals on a date. The second floral one would go well to church with a cardi or as a hostess dress at a dinner party, amongst other things.
