new glasses, and two keep or returns

I got a new pair of glasses today! I went with a friend last week and picked out two frames. I had difficulty getting a good closeup picture of them that didn't have glare from the flash or other issues, so this is the best I could do...

Also, since I was at the mall, I decided to do some browsing and hit the J. Crew sale. I picked up these two things. The first is the silk utility tee--unbelted and untucked, it's probably more voluminous than I'd prefer (though maybe with skinnies, heels and a jacket it would look fab) but I was thinking more about tucking and/or belting it. I really love the color and it's machine washable silk.

The second is a dress. It's not the color/pattern that attracted me so much as the fact that it is a silk/cotton dress, lined with light cotton, that is of a light color--sounds perfect for very hot summer days. Ditsy florals usually aren't my thing, but it seems like the kind of dress that will be so very cool during the dog days of summer.

I think the color of that top is beautiful on you and definite keeper.

I can understand your thinking about going for the dress because of the fabric like this, but I'd say only keep it if you don't have other options for the weather you need it for. I think there's plenty of time until summer and you've got chances to find another dress. Plus if the store is stocking them now, I'd hope they'll have more to come in the months ahead.

I am not fond of the dress though; maybe something with more of a hip will be nicer; there doesn't really seem to be a defined shape. Maybe a belt?

Like you mentioned, the color and style of the dress is so-so, but I can understand you wanting to grab a nice fabrication for the hot summer. I'm trying to think how to make it better, but in the heat, you don't want to add extra colorful layers or even a belt. Statement earrings and sandals? Maybe keep the tags on in case you find a better silk/cotton blend dress.

The colour of the blouse is great on you! However, I don't think I like where it's hitting on your hips. I'd prefer higher or lower than that. If you're just gonna belt or tuck all the time, then its not a problem, but I think if you wanted to wear it like this, its not the best it could be. I feel like the dress is too drab for you; I don't know anything about your style, but I would much rather see you in some bolder colours! They would look so great with your skin tone!

all right, it seems like the blouse is a keeper! Like I said, I plan to wear it belted or tucked, so the length isn't an issue per se.

It seems like the dress hasn't gone over well with any of you...to be honest, I don't care about the color (though brighter colors are more my style), since I meant it for the hottest summer when light colors are really what's called for. I think it's that I wish the dress was more of an a-line shape rather than a "tank" shape. That's my main issue with it...if it were a bit more a-line and the same color, I think I'd definitely keep.
