My phone just ate my long post, so you will benefit, as I'm too pooped to re- create.
Shown are new high- waist long pants in lieu of the cropped style I showed in an earlier post.
They fit well and I'm hoping these will be retro- fab but more subtle/ classic as a workwear pant. For me it's the best style for tucking in tops.

ETA added some tryon pics, with the self belt and a leather belt. I used a medium thick sweater to use something light to show up the pants better;the "best" look is with a thin and not too voluminous top but for mid-winter I will wear something warmer.

I think if using an alternative to the self-belt, I maybe try one of my skinnier belts since, due to the "paper bag" style, the loops are actually below my waist. That makes it not as good for contrast belt because something is lost in legline. Interesting how that affects the proportions--I max out with 1.5-2" heel so can't get the super long-leg wide pant look of high heels. Pant hems are just folded under, so look a little bulky at hem.
