This is the next pair. I've been looking for the "perfect" pair of black ankle boots for a couple of years to replace my tried-and-true-but-tatty ones. (I live in Minnesota, and black ankle boots are a staple in my wardrobe for 7-8 months of the year. I also have "fussy feet" so I'm extremely particular about fit for a basic like this.)

This pair is from La Canadienne, and they are expensive but will be worth it if they are indeed "perfect". I received them today from Zappos and.... knocking wood, crossing fingers, tossing salt over my shoulder... I think they ARE perfect for me!! I'm thrilled because my last pair of ankle boots, from Sofft, purchased from Zappos 2-3 years ago, was a compromise; and the ones before then were perfect in look and function but not quality ($10 on clearance at Target - I bought two pairs and wore them for a total of 3-4 years!).

Here they are. They're crinkle patent leather, lined, and WATERPROOF!

(Thank you for ignoring my dorky batik hippie dress in the pics, I don't have air conditioning and it's in the 90s here today.)

And lest you think that ALL my shoes are patent leather - right now these two new purchases are the only ones.

Please say nice things about these so I can justify the purchase.
