New fave shopping sites - YouLookFab Forum

I hate to suggest sites or retailers to fabbers because I always feel like I am the last one to find something so it is old news. Oh well, taking the chance here.

Over the holidays I discovered the Reformation, an LA-based brand apparently loved by Rhianna (so you know that I had to look - haha). It's got a cool 70s vibe and is dedicated to sustainability so for those of you looking for green sources of clothing, try here. I bought a great top from the sale selection and the content was "unknown" because it was made of surplus material! But it washed great and I hung it dry. (It also looks fabulous on.) And funny -- but my Paige flares (thrifted purchase from September) seem to have rightly signaled that my true inner style is a blend of 60s AND 70s. Who knew?

Thanks to Garance Dore, I have just discovered COS, which recently opened a retail store on Spring St in NYC. It's an H&M brand bringing fashion to the masses -- prices are a bit above H&M, the styles are more sophisticated and minimal. I love it -- my next purchase, I think, will be from here.

Ha! Cos. Ornella suggested it to me years ago and she was right, although when I was in the UK and tried stuff on it wouldn't work for me as the goods were spring season and the weights unsuitable for my non-air conditioned summer -- plus I had some trouble getting a flattering fit in the items I tried. Parsley has a bunch of stuff from them and loves it!

If you are on a 70s jag, you are right in tune with the times! Should be fun to watch this.

Funny - but I am on a 70's kick right now too - in terms of being obsessed with the look anyways. One of my favourite bloggers - Preston Davis - is posting a lot of Gucci and YSL, both of which are heavy into the look for spring. Totally excited about the flare pants - and now I'm actively looking for jeans. I don't want boot cuts though, I want FLARES, baby.

I'd love to see COS in person - read about them, but never seen anything up close and personal

I don't dare look after I just claimed I would stop shopping. Dang it!

I love a lot of things about the '70s, particularly the late '70s. I want to bring some of that decade back into my wardrobe, but I don't want to look exactly like I did back then. I need to do it in an updated way, with the help of Angie and other YLFers. It's one of those "don't wear it the same way the second time around" things.

I'm glad you're enjoying these new sites, Viva. Thanks for sharing.

Not too taken with COS at the moment though (although I usually quite like their Spring collection). Most of the pants/jeans styles are at that awkward length + width - and I have had my fill of black/grey items at retail for a while. I keep on finding Club Monaco better suited to my style persona and body type despite their 99% neutral palette. I LOVE their quality too. So I end up purchasing there instead of COS, if that makes sense.
