New coat and puffer jacket (maybe)

I've decided to keep this coat, I really like it.

Ideally, I would have liked narrower lapels and maybe not the tilted pockets, but it's hard to find something 100% perfect. I'm happy with this. What do you think about black boots with this coat? I'm not sure that's good (black isn't a great colour for me anyway). Can you suggest other colours that might work better, should I think light or dark?

Then there's this Esprit puffer jacket:

The colour works for me (it's softer than optical white but not quite cream), and to me the shape looks pretty good. But what do you think? If it's okay I'll keep it, the winters are long and cold here and I'd like to get several jacket/coat options.

Is the tweed on the first coat a dark red? Lots of browns would be great with it, anything from a chocolate brown to a chestnut. The shape is really nice. The puffer is good too.

And yes, in a cold climate, you need more than one coat--at least one for dress, one for casual, and one for below zero.

Actually the coat has cream and peachy pink dots. Looks very good with my skin tone. The colours are more correct here:

They are both lovely. Garmeta's got good color suggestions. I do think the tweed would be better without the pockets, but I think they're somehow better than when the pockets aren't tilted because they create more of a waist.

Yup. Our Autumns and Winters are long here too. Stock up on LOTS of coats to prevent feeling bored.

Thanks for your feedback. I didn't realize tilted pockets could be a good thing, that's a bonus!

I'd love me some brown boots but I'm not sure if darker or lighter shades would work best. I'll just have to try and see.

I really like the first coat, I love the dotted pattern! And it looks like it fits you perfectly. Personally, I'm not too fond about the second one - but that's probably to do with my own taste; it does look great on you!
