New clothes are awesome, but nothing makes me crazier than...

...having to make a return.

I enjoy shopping. Or, correction, I enjoy going to the shops and returning with new things I can't wait to wear. (Returning empty-handed is a bummer). But if there's one thing I hate hate hate, it's having to return something that is not right. Especially since I was in the store and tried it on!

A little irrational, or do others feel this way?

Call me crazy, but I enjoy it. OK, maybe not the having to make a trip I wouldn't have to have done otherwise, but I like the feeling of making the correct decision...and getting money back, even though that's irrational since it's money I'd already spent.

Now, waiting in line, dealing with the paperwork, I'm not so much of a fan of.

Based on what our non-North-American ladies have said, they'd love to have our options for returning!

I don't mind returning because as Laura mentioned, it means that I'm taking the time to make sure my money is being spent on what I luv. Plus, since I'm right there at the shops anyways, I might as well have another look around. : P

I'm a serial returner! It makes me feel good to return things because I feel I'm not wasting money on something that isn't perfect.

The problem is, I'm better at finding reasons to return something than at finding perfect clothes! Lol!

I rarely return things even if they are mistakes. I usually procrastinate for too long and then can't find my receipt or I wear the piece once before realizing it is a bust.

I don't like to return things which may be why I delay. I bought a pair of leggings a year or two ago and they pilled at the thighs the first time I wore them. I took them back and the SA told me it was because my thighs were heavy (not the exact words). I suggested it was the fabric quality.

Returning massive amounts of items has become so much a part of my life (especially since I discovered YLF!), I hardly think about it anymore. It's a hassle, true, but I see it as the cost of having a great wardrobe.

I don't mind it at all, and I don't feel the need to apologize for it.... if stores wouldn't use those darned skinny mirrors and trick lighting, I probably wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Yes, I'm even looking at you, Nordstrom.
Being a list ticker, it feels satisfying to return something and be able to mentally (or physically) check it off of my list of "to-do-today".

I'm not crazy about returning things, because anything I buy is online (so there are often shipping charges both ways) or at least 40 minutes away (I live in a small town). However, I will sometimes order things online when there are free or low-cost shipping specials and then return them to the store. Sometimes I will buy something at the store and get home and then realize it is not right for me but those times are fewer and far between than they used to be. If I am on vacation somewhere, I have to be very sure about what I am buying because obviously I can't return it when I get back home. If I am on the fence about something in-store, I will tell myself if I am still thinking about it later on, I can always order it online if I love it that much.

I always get a little nervous when I have a *massive* number of purchases and I know that some of them will be returned. For instance, when I was looking for white boot-cut jeans, I purchased about 5 pairs at once. I always feel better when the *extras* are returned.

Yep, I hate making returns, too. I did it just yesterday.

I'm a serial returner, too! I have no qualms about it whatsoever. I like to be happy with my purchases, and if I'm not, I don't hesitate to take it back.

I just returned more than half of my NAS purchases last night so this is a timely post for me! Turns out the thing I hate is not the actual process of returning something, but the lead-up where I have the purchases hanging around the house, and I'm worrying about when I'm going to find the time to schlepp to the store, and worrying about whether I have the receipt, and just a lot of general angst.

I feel MUCH better now that it's all taken care of!

I usually return online purchases, so I have next to zero stress about it. Waiting for my account to be credited is not the most fun ever, but it's better to have tried the item and failed than to forever wonder what might have been.

If I bought things online, I would expect to have to return things -- there's no way around it, really. But I always buy my clothes from brick-and-mortar shops. So if I come home with something that's not right, I'm always kicking myself because I tried the thing on in the shop, and why did I not notice it was 'off' at the time? And now I have to waste my time returning to the shop when I should have been more careful in the first place!

This only ever happens when I buy items I don't love. I should really stick with the "if in doubt, go without" rule, and I'd never have to make a return trip!

Elisabeth, I'm right there with you. Sometimes my B&M mistakes are because I feel if I don't get it right then, I will lose out and it will be gone. If I'm on the fence, and it is on sale I am more likely to bring it home and then debate on it. For the online purchases, I just hate dealing with the post office lines and paying to ship it back

Totally agree. However, my in-store shopping opportunities are limited, so that's the price I pay.

I'm with Mary. It's the looking at the boxes on the kitchen table, and trying to remember to get back to the store, and keeping track of receipts that makes me nuts.
