New Clamdiggers and Questionable Top

I bought this pair of David Kahn trouser jeans on ebay, and didn't really care for the wide leg. I decided to make them into clams, but I folded up the hem and left it frayed like I have been seeing in the shops.

I think I am going to try and distress/fray/lighten them a bit more, but I like the folded back cuff look.
I'm not sure about this top. The sleeve length is no good, but is the rest of it so bad? I hated these pictures when I first saw them today (I felt like I looked huge but I am feeling a little better about it now), but my son took them and that may be why they look so different to me.
I've already washed and worn the top, but should it be relegated to cleaning house, or can I wear it in public??

I am not so sure about the color of the shirt. It seems to wash you out. I wish the gradation went the opposite way...dark to light.

I do, too Maya. I liked the brass studs on it. The picture quality is just really bad- that is contributing I am sure.

Is it the lack of structure that you question?, or are you ok with that. I like the studs too and the length is good

Khris, I actually like this top! But if this was my outfit, I would pop little vest or fitted jacket over top,to brake up your upper body little more, and the clams I would leave unfolded, so the are a bit longer. Hope this helps you?

Taylor I'm not sure what it is. I had thought about a vest over it like Renata suggested, but that shark bite hem makes layering difficult.

Khris, maybe the fullness on the sides of the top because of the drape add fullness there and make you look wider than you are. I wish the top dipped in the front and back with the shorter part on the sides. If I cover up the bottom half of the top on my monitor I like it better.
As Renata said, try the clam cuffs down or with a smaller fold. I suspect that having them just a tad longer might make a big difference.

I like the top, but my first thought is a structure issue, which is why I think you feel the need to layer. If it is a very thin, tissue like tee that may be what bugs you.
If you layer over you can't see the studs, so can you layer under ?

Its fitted on top, so I'm not sure if layering under would work?

Good point Renata, but I was thinking more like a tank that was very fitted and close to the body.

The color of the top is not the best one for you, in addition, it has so much volume on the sides that calls the attention to the hips.. it's not bad, let's say it is not a 10.

I think the fraying on the clams looks fine though i'm thinking it may make them more for casual looks? I rather like the top I love the detailling around the neck, like Maya I think the colour would have been better reversed but it's not a deal breaker, the clams and top look great together x

Smart work on the clams Khris. I am trying to work up the courage to do this to a pair of jeans myself!!

As for the top....its passable but not amazing. I think the darker beads help balance out the lightness of the top. As long as its breathable and will get you through your many summery hot days I say add it to your collection!!!

Khris, this top does not meet your usual stylish standard. I vote keep it as home wear.

Adore the clams! I actually really like the industrial wash.

I tried my white vest over it, and the added structure did help- and the brass studs still showed. Everyone needs loungewear, right?
