New Anthropologie Convertible Dress

I'm not a huge fan of Antropologie, but I thought this was an interesting dress. It is convertible and can be worn as a dress with or without straps and also unbuttons into a skirt. Of course you can always wear a dress and put tops and jackets over it which gives the look or the skirt, but the convertible aspect removes some of the layering bulk.

What are your thoughts? Cute concept or gimmicky?

I love it. Such a pretty shape as a dress and I like the high waist of the skirt. I say "yes" to the dress!

I like the styles at Anthropologie but tend to avoid them for ethical reasons.

DO really like this dress! Nice find. I'd prefer the buttons to be on the skirt though and the buttonholes on the top part.

I love the idea of clothes that can be worn in a bunch of different ways (not just remixed, but as different items of clothing). I had two bandeau dresses from American Apparel (http://store.americanapparel.net/rsa8339.html and http://store.americanapparel.net/rsa8342.html) that I thought would be really versatile and get a ton of use. The problem was that there was no one way of wearing them that fit perfectly. I was constantly readjusting things and often felt like they weren't even "real" clothes, just some fabric I happened to be wearing.

Hopefully this dress has overcome that problem because it's woven, but based on the pictures I'm curious how well the top part actually fits, and if the skirt waistband looks weird with a top tucked in (people will wonder what the buttonholes are there for). I have hope, but I'm not convinced.

The only convertible item that I'm truly impressed by is this jacket (http://www.freepeople.com/muub.....ench-coat/), but I haven't seen it in person and it's not personally my style.

Wow - pretty ingenious. I have never tried a convertible dress, but this looks pretty & classic. Cool how you can wear it 3 ways plus make it into a skirt. What engineers! I suppose the real judge will be trying it on and seeing how these transformations work in earnest. Good luck - it's darling!

I have to agree with Kate. I had a convertible foldover skirt/bandeau dress and it was neither here nor there. The foldover was too bulky on the waist for me, but worn as a dress, it became instantly too short. The only way I got it to work was under a deep v neck top with the bandeau barely peeking out like a cami would. Wore it that way exactly once. But I do like the idea of convertible very much.
