Ask Angie: Neutral bag advice

Been super busy at work for a bit but now begging a new fashion question. I have fairly recently gone blonde after being brunette for ever. The basic black bag is looking jaded with new hair. I know the principle of matching to hair - a light bone/beige/off white is really the colour of my hair but is perhaps a bit too light - for keeping clean, for a basic everyday bag (dont say anything!), for winter. What do blondes do for such a bag that I can set and forget when I need to... Any ideas on how to pick a neutral now I am blonder. I am thinking if I take just one bag travelling, etc etc or having a busy time and not re coordinating during the week etc.

I am blonde so can really easily relate:-) thus I wear lot of blacks I have to admit I DO not have black bags at all(in fact very few black shoes, too)l...(oh, except a formal clutch, formal patent shoes, and suede boots) For ex I have inherrited this winter a black patent leather designer bag from my SIL, but never used it:-( I feel it's too harsh /too much to my complexion...
So.In winter I mostly wear a dark grey, natural leather browns or even a beige bag, to match but make some contrast with my black coats and trench. In spring and fall have collourred bags as for ex a coral red(for spring) and mustard(for fall) but have lighter greys than in winter, and tans, too.
For summer I like to have white, or shades of off white-very light grey, olive or bright turquise and yellow (for ex. in straw) but cognac brown always a favourite, depend on the dress code.

Bag shopping is so fun!

You don't need to match the colour of your bag to your hair. I wear non- light coloured bags all the time.

The bookending thing works quite well with shoes and hair - but again, not at all a must. I wear black boots pretty often in Winter.

However, a non-black bag is ideal for Summer and Spring. More summer-y. In my opinion, black bags look heavy in hot weather unless it's making a strong contrast with your outfit (like wearing white).

So for warm weather, go for something light, metallic or a colour. That said, I wear cream bags all through Autumn and Winter too. I love the way that they contrast with my black turtle necks.

Pick a taupe if cream is too light. A cool or warm taupe depending on your colouring.

Thank you!!! OK will go for a lighter tone that blends with the blacks AND my hair... I thought, what works with blonde is all NEW after being SO dark for ever 9and all through my family) - you don't realise how much one learns by experience over time. And great excuse for some new pieces!! Again thank you!

I've really been loving cognac as a bag color recently. It's a little more neutral than red, but still has that pop.

I find red is a great all year round color too.
I do wear dark bags in summer and light bags in winter. I like the contrast and oddness of the choice.
