I managed to get sick and lose my voice so I didn't work today. I finished off season 4 of "call my agent" the French series on netflix. I really like the different clothes sense of the different characters. I prefer Andrea's style the best with her skinny jeans, boots and fantastic jackets. But I also like Noeme's

coquettish look as well.
I started deadwind, a Finnish thriller series and really like the parka and boots that the main detective wears. Finally "love and anarchy ' has some great clothes as well. Anyone else pick up clothes inspiration while watching netflix?

I get plenty of inspiration from YLF... the ensembles, members outfits and the outfit created in Finds. The NetFlix shows we watch. usually late night to unwind., are not outfit inspirational...Escape to the Country and Gardening or cooking shows.

I remember watching some Korean show on Netflix ( in 2018/2019 - "Black" ) and wanting certain duster and plaid shirt that the girl was wearing - did get some similar pieces that I enjoyed wearing it for a while .

I agree with youvon Love and anarchy - scandi chic to perfection!
I have to restrain myself from binge-shopping after certain shows. I'm currently really into 'the bold type' especially the Kat character, but these girls work for a fashion magazine and I just have no use right now for printed blazers, a boilersuit or sailor pants :(. Nor do I ever need crop tops :-D.

Yes, at the time The Good Wife had me searching for the lead’s suiting and more recently The Undoing had me seriously reviewing my palette and coats.

Aside from work webinars, or if I'm working on a skill (like the poi), I only have patience to watch about 6 minutes a month of anything. This month it was Fluffy the comedian, but gonna skip the Hawaiian shirts on this leg of my style journey

Hah, Suntiger! Mr. ND and I were watching Gabriel Iglesias aka Fluffy too. Very funny! Mr. ND said he needed some Hawaiian shirts. I told him to stick to his guayabera shirts that he wears in warm weather.

ND, I love guayabara shirts & wish I could get my son to wear them! You can tell the mister that if he wears Hawaiian shirts, he might be mistaken for a boogaloo boy.

Sally, I have a hard enough time remembering to look at what people around me are wearing, much less on tv. Besides, on the show we currently are watching (Atlanta) the main character has worn a shirt that says “keep on keeping on” for the last 2 episodes.

I've recently finished Balthazar, a French crime show I really loved (watched it through Amazon Prime). The character Captain Bach, played by Hélène de Fougerolles, has great unfussy French style. Her uniform is skinny jeans, tough boots, an interesting button-down shirt (sometimes a tee), and a great jacket, usually with a scarf when she goes out. Practical, yes, but there is something interesting in here. She's made me turn back to button-downs (a favorite anyway), wear scarves more, and plan for a new leather jacket in the fall. I love the orange one below!

(Do you know the website spotern.com? I found it while looking for images of her outfits. It's a great place to locate the exact item being worn.

I just finished Euphoria on HBO. Top notch costuming all around, but I'm most in love with the Gen Z tomboy looks on Rue/Zendaya. Lots of volume/oversized, cropped lengths, eclectic patterns, playful mix of butch and femme elements -- made me nostalgic for the funky thrown-together thrift outfits of my own youth...

Yes, I definitely look for inspiration in some TV shows. Some I watch mainly for the costumes or keep on watching if they otherwise are not too good, but with gorgeous costumes.

Like Liesbeth, I really enjoyed the costumes on The Bold Type. I admired the costumes on Undoing - mainly the coats. Also Emily in Paris - a fun perception (maybe a little unreal) of how French women dress. An older favorite is The Good Fight - gorgeous clothes, some from Escada, my favorite brand.

Cat2, that brings me to The Good Wife - loved watching the clothes. I actually found the very same jacket worn by the character Jackie Florick in one episode and I wrote a post on it here on YLF, just for fun, about three years ago. @Joy we obviously have different tastes in netflix. I have no interest in cooking and gardening much to the disgust of my family.
@slim cat I will have to look up the show if its style inspiration.
@lyn67. Yes so do I. My sister got irate at my mum once when watching a particularly suspenseful moment and she suddenly said,"I do like that blouse she has on.".
@Liesbeth I haven't seen the bold type but those clothes look good. I know what you mean, the clothes have to suit your lifestyle.
@cat2. I haven't seen the good wife but know how these programmes influence our tastes and inspirations.

@notsaf -While I could probably wear Andrea's clothes as a lifestyle option, I think she has a lot more yang in her body shape so I would need to adapt ideas for me.

@fashionIntern haha probably not a character to seek inspiration from but at least he has a signature style.
@Viva the last thing i need is another French series to get hooked into but by the photos I might have to go and subscribe to Amazon prime again.
@Isabel You definitely need to see the series...not just for the clothes. I love the storyline as well.
@LaPed That looks like a fun show for costumes. It reminds me of desperately seeking Susan in the 80s? I used to love Madonna's clothes in that.

Wow Katerina . Fancy finding the same jacket. You did well and it really suits your dramatic style. I had heard about Emily in Paris (and yes there was mention that it was unrealistic ) . I read somewhere that Call my Agent was a more realistic portrayal of the Parisian. Maybe I'll watch Emily in Paris for the clothes.

Shows that have inspired me fashion wise recently

- The Undoing - Nicole Kidman's wardrobe was stunning!
- Behind her Eyes - loved Louise's wardrobe

A few years ago
- Mad Men - my all time favourite
- The Night Manager - very inspirational
- Offspring - gorgeous boho styles

I have to be careful not to dive too deeply as I am not Joan or Peggy from Mad Men, nor Nina from Offspring......

Sally definitely watch 'call my agent'.
I also loved 'behind my eyes' and thought Louise had a great wardrobe. I liked her cropped jeans.
Did you watch "the night manager ' and 'the undoing' on amazon prime. Now that Viva has also suggested that French crime series there, I may have to resubscribe.
I get your point about not diving too deep but I think we can still take inspiration, and adopt elements into our own style.

Every single coat on every single character in Call My Agent! I also liked seeing characters repeat outfits or pieces. Also appreciated that the series did not have any murders or women in distress.

@NancyW Yes you get it. Its a great series with each character having a realistic style of their own, and yes clothes are repeated.

Sally: I watched two episodes of Call My Agent last night and loved it! Thank you for the recommendation. I don't love comedies, and that is how this is billed, so I hesitated. But it's not an American comedy - much, much more subtle. I'm really enjoying it and I love Andrea's look as well. I've been watching French series lately to try to brush up on my French skills and it's been terrific. (In Balthazar, they speak a little more slowly than in Call My Agent, but I'm still hanging in there.) If you have other French series to recommend, please let me know!

@Viva If I come across any other French series I will defnitely let you know by messaging you. A film I loved in French was 'to be and to have' (that's the English title). Its non-fiction about a small school in rural France and a sole teacher. Its beautiful but I dont speak French so couldn't appreciate the language.

Another vote for Call My Agent, and Andrea’s style. Reminded me that style does not have to be complicated...
I also loved that they had an older woman (Arlette), still working, and bringing her dog with her!

@Viva I can't recommend it because I haven't watched it yet but a french crime series "the forest " has come up on my netflix recommendations. I will watch soon.

@Chiara you make an excellent point about style not needing to be complicated. I don't think Andrea has a great deal of clothes but she carries it off well with her particular look.
Talk about keeping it simple, in my latest netflix addiction, the detective Sofia seems to only own 2 jerseys, 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of boots and a parka, and she has great style!
