Negating 'flower pot effect'?

I still am keeping my eyes open for booties, though the active hunt is not on the priority list anymore. I started to wonder if the models with vamps that come down in front or dip in the middle might be a better choice for us dainty ankle gals? The FPE might be diminished since there is no straight horizontal line cutting across the leg?

I think that's right, Mo. I got that feedback during my attempt to try the Manlows.

I'm also trying these: http://www.hue.com/Socks/Casua.....Socks.aspx I put them in the same order with my cord leggings and am hoping they will help as well.

Are those like the tall socks sticking out of boots but for booties instead? Intriguing.

EDIT: April, I'm also starting to wonder just what heel height helps negate FPE also. I'd love 2" heels but it seems they come in low and high heights and not much in between.

Interesting concept. I have the same flower pot problem with booties so rarely wear them with skirts/dresses. This might be a good solution.

I like ankle boots that come up past the slimmest part of my ankle and have elastic or gores that allow for slim fits. I find moto boots the biggest flowerpot offenders, personally.

Two secrets -- what IK said (elastic or gores of some kind) OR the V shaped vamp, as you suggest.

Yes, Mo, I think the idea is that it's not a chunky sock in the footbed (whatever that's called on a sock) but it gives you a cuff like a chunky sock.

Hmm, not much help on heel heights because I mainly look for the lowest heel possible, but I thought some of the Zara ones had a heel in that range: http://www.zara.com/us/en/woma.....ewMode=two

Yes. The v or cutout front definitely helps. Most of my booties have some version of this.

I think the cutout front helps because it is cut lower on the ankle, so you have the extra volume of your ankle exposed. The problem with boots cut straight across the top is that they are generally cut up higher on the leg, a ways above the ankle, so your leg is already narrowing.
