Need tips for Cocktail Party

Hello ladies!

I have a work evening cocktail party coming up next week and I'm semi-freaking out on how to dress exactly for it. So far, this is the dress I'm planning to wear (in blue and it falls to my feet due to my shortness)

How can I really style this? Pulling hair back and showing statement earrings while holding a clutch is only thing I can think of. Since the temperature is ~40s, do you think I can wear boots under it and still look polished?

Is it on a worknight? If so I imagine it won’t really be SO formal and you could get away with wearing your work clothes plus a few glitzy accessories.

I think boots could work if they are quite refined - metallic, shiny black etc.

Or lacy tights with pumps or heels?

I do think hair up and earrings is a great look too.

I’m with Jessikams. Although I do like this dress and yes you could wear with boots but that would depend. When I hear “ work cocktail party” I don’t think super- dressy/ lacy but nice tailored dress or suit or classy separates with some jewelry, dressier shoes IF feet tolerate, dressy clutch if you have it. The “ desk to dinner “ transition type outfits.

That's definitely a desk to dinner dress in my book and agree with Sal re: refined boots or pumps. Pointy or almond toe reads as dressier than rounder or square toes (to me) and if boots avoid visual clutter at the ankles.

i do think this could work, but maybe it should be shortened, so that it hits as a midi (as shown) as opposed to the maxi your post implies it is.

Thank you so much for your replies Ladies!! Considering your answers, I decided to go with another dress instead https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod.....#038;psc=1

This was more like midi but worked well with heeled shoes with stockings. I dressed it up further with nice necklace and earrings and glitzy clutch.

Got lots of compliments on this as well.
