Need thoughts on this dress plz!

What do you guys think of this dress? I normally shy away from this shape because my hips can make me self conscious, but I think with the top half beading, wider neckline and color I can maybe pull it off?

I'm a sucker for pieces with added texture...plus it's on sale.

...also please ignore I'm wearing the wrong type of underwear for this if you happen to notice that LOL.

I vote pass. Too short and too tight - even on someone as young and cute as you, Nicole. In my opinion, if you are going to wear a hemline this short, keep the skirt flared, or stick to short shorts. Sorry to me a mare - and take my thoughts for what they are worth to you.

But you could size up and wear it as a tunic. Your bod looks amazing!

It's an amazing dress and very tempting. I agree the top's width and embellishment draws the eye upwards and balances your lower half. I think it's too short but that might be the camera angle. It wouldn't look too short with dark hose. How do you feel about the length?

There must be a solution to the length. Tights, layered with another skirt or leggings...if not, then you are truly on the right track. The color is great, and the beading is really interesting detail that does successfully draw the eye upward. And yeah, what hips? Your hips are slim.

If I wore that dress the minute I moved it would all be riding up around my middle. You might end up tugging at it often to keep it down.

Well, I think your body is perfect, so technically you certainly *could* wear it. However, I agree with Angie. If it were a chunkier, less clingy knit or cut a little more A-line it would be a better dress. It just looks like it's cut a bit chintz-y. But it's NOT you; it's the dress, lol!

Nicole, in case I wasn't clear, there is NOTHING wrong with your divine body. It's beautiful and perfect in all it's curvy glory! Sorry that I very rudely forgot to mention that in my first comment. Shame on me.

Tracina also made a point that I forgot to mention. You will probbaly tug on this dress each time you move because that's what short tight dresses do - ride up like a very angry car on the road.

I think you have lovely curves but I would pass on this. For me, something about the abrupt stop of the pattern makes this miss the mark. Combining that with the snug hem, I don't think it is deserving of a place in your wardrobe.

Hips are not a bad thing! Yes, you have hips (i.e. a slammin' curvy bod) and they are great! I do think the dress is a bit too short and tight, and like Angie's suggestion of sizing up and styling as a tunic.

I think everything looks great except the length. If you'd wear with opaque tights or over skinnies, I think it's super flattering to your bod. As is though, I feel like it'll definitely ride up as you move about and get even shorter. :T

Thanks everyone for your help! I passed on it - you all are right, I would wear this as a night out dress and any moving (read: wild dancing) that equaled riding up would not be good.

I went back and looked for abigger size to try the tunic idea but no go.

Also I hope everyone knows I'm not trying to say my hips are large...I just mean they are wide for my body (my chest is 32" while my hips are 37"). So I guess I should of said I can be self conscious about keeping my body looking balanced.

Angie - don't worry! I didn't take anything negative from your first comment; your advice and thoughts are alway very valuable to me! thank you for your 2nd comment though, that was sweet.

Your hips don't look any wider than your shoulders to me, which makes you look perfectly balanced to my eye. I always thought I had wide hips - and wide shoulders - but I didn't connect that that equality (along with a defined waist) made me an hourglass until I joined YLF. You mentioned your chest measurement in relation to your hips, but you might find it more helpful to check your hip width against your shoulder width. I've even gone so far as to measure the width of my shoulders and hips straight across to see how similar they are. You look like a really nicely balanced, feminine hourglass to me. All this to say, I don't see anything that needs to be balanced, FWIW ;).

Oh, I really liked that dress on you! But I guess you have decided against. I have the same shape as you, so understand how you might be concerned about a clinging dress in the hip area, but in all honesty, I LOVE this dress on you! You were right, the pattern on the top really balanced out the form-fitting aspect on the bottom.

I do agree with Angie. I think that sizing up and making it a tunic would be fabulous. I also don't like tight and short on anyone, not even Brad Pitt.
