Need some opinions on these sunglasses

I want a new pair because I don't like my old pair all that much anymore (had them for three to four years).

What do you think of these? Are they good or should I keep looking? I think they're a good size for my face, but what about color and shape?

They seem a bit large all around. The nose bridge pieces supposed to be a few mm away from your forehead, such that the weight of the frame rests on the sides of the nose and not on top.

Color looks fab. Shape is good. Would need to see alternative options to say which is the best. Good luck.

Thanks 3style! The nose bridge sitting lower on the nose isn't going to happen, it's just the shape of my nose/face getting in the way of that. Or, they slide lower on their own, which in the worst case results in me squinting to still look through the frames. Those with nose pads work better, but I don't really like them.

As for these being too big, do you mean from the fit or from the looks? They were the smallest ones I could find that I liked the shape of. They felt very secure on my face, so I think the width was good.

Just so that you know what I'm talking about, the picture below is similar to what the majority of sunglasses look like on my face (much too big). And this wasn't a super large one!

I think that this all boils down to how much you want to spend. If you go to an actual independent optical shop with well trained opticians, I’m quite sure you can find a frame with nosepads which will look good and fit your face exactly. Most frames that are on display at a shop like that can be ordered a few mm wider or narrower than the standard width.

If you are going for a non custom option, it gets harder with a frame like the one you showed, because it’s ideally supposed to be curved around your face and tilted with pantoscopic tilt to optimize your vision, and a pair off the rack isn’t going to do those things.

Thanks - sounds like you know what you're talking about. I don't want to spend too much on sunglasses to be honest. Especially because I also need new normal frames soon and I'd prefer to spend my money there, because I wear those most days, the sunglasses just sporadically in the summer, obviously. And all the ones I tried in the chain store today wouldn't have been inexpensive either, at 150€-200€ (with prescription). I wouldn't want want to spend more on sunglasses...

I vote keep them! I love the color and shape! (Probably why I have a similar pair too heehee). Not everyone can wear cat eyes but it works on you. It lines up with your eyebrows on top which is good. To me it doesn’t look big. For some reason I find I need to wear cat eye styles a bit larger than other styles or it doesn’t look right. Or maybe you CAN wear cat eyes bigger and it looks more intentional than other styles, which is good because then more of my eyes are protected from wrinkles. Haha!

I REALLY like them! The style is fantastic with your pixie cut. I don’t see the fit issues that 3style mentions but I don’t have the background knowledge that she has.

I can identify with being hard to fit for glasses. For my latest pair of regular frames, I went with an option that was slightly larger than ideal but a good color (rather than a pair from the same line that was a more ideal size but a color that overwhelmed my features). From this vantage point I don’t regret it at all. So I would say that if these frames are functional (like, do they fit well enough that they stay in place and actually do their job of being sunglasses) they are a good bet.

I love a generously sized pair of sunglasses, as I’m trying to shield delicate skin around my eyes, as well as protect my vision. No coin sized 90s era glasses for me! I think the slight “cat eye” is fun, but subtle enough to look good with a wide range of outfits.

I also buy less expensive sunnies. I typically break one pair, and lose another, each year!

Thanks everyone! They are keeping them for me for a week, so I have a bit of time to decide. But at the moment I‘m leaning towrds getting them. I tried my old ones again when I came home and I really do need a replacement, I don’t even want to wear them anymore.

A (slight) Cat eye is always a good bet on me! Somehow they just work well for me face. Most square frames don’t work and very few round frames.

Thank you! And I completely agree, color is very important. I wouldn’t want frames in an unflattering color either. For me that’s black for example, it’s just too harsh for my coloring. Or other very saturated/dark/bright colors.

I like oversized too (it needs to be oversized in the right way of course). But I like that they aren’t „massive“ at the same time. They look a lot more delicate than my current pair which seem smaller.

Thanks - although the pixie is rather grown out right now, I‘d love a haircut. But I‘m waiting so that I can have it done just before my vacation.

I like them! And I can empathize with your search for sunglasses which are functional, fit reasonably well on a smaller face with a narrow nose bridge, and aren’t insanely expensive. I think this pair ticks a lot of boxes and looks amazing with your current pixie.

Thanks everyone! I‘ll get them and stop searching. Fit and price was good and I liked the shape and color as well, so there’s really no reason to keep looking.

I miss being on the forum, but I‘ve been so busy that I just haven’t found time to contribute. Plus I don’t have a good spot to take pics right now... But my style hasn’t changed much. And I‘m doing a lot of repeats, with fairly few items. So not sure how interesting it would be in any case!

Astrid, I’m glad you decided to get them. I love them. I agree that a larger size sunglasses is best because of the added protection it gives your eyes and the skin around your eyes. Accumulated sun exposure supposedly leads to cataracts and even though it happens slowly, it’s a great idea to protect your eyes as much as possible starting at an early age. I worked as a lifeguard, swim and boating instructor between the ages of 15 and 25, always outdoors in the summers. It helped to pay for my education. My hours were longest when I was younger. Sadly, I didn’t wear sunglasses or sunscreen. I live with the consequences now. I

I tend to like sunglasses that are a bit more generous in size. If these make you smile, then they are a happiness factor and that is an extra tally in the pro category!

Thanks again for chiming in - lots of people on team oversized sunnies here... My mum was with me yesterday and when I showed her the frames she said that she didn't like that they were so "pointy", which to her eyes looked old fashioned (she isn't interested in fashion at all). I thought it was quite funny.

You know I never wore sunglasses a lot, but recently I've become a bit more sensitive. And I thought it would be nice to have a new pair for the holidays. Especially for my vacation in October, because we'll be going to Majorca and I will be the only one with a driving license besides... I've always used sunscreen though! That's something my parents always ensured.
