Need some advice with health issue, have anyone ever dealt with this?

I hope that noone minds me posting this because I really didn't get anything from my doctor and I am feelign very anxious and worried.
Anyone ever had 2 periods in one month? Mine were always pretty regular and I am not on birth control so that's why I am really nervious. Mine ended 6 days ago and I just got another one yesterday, just like a regular period with all the wondeful symptoms(cramps, bloating, etc).
Called my doctor who kind of schrugged her shoulders and told me she couldn't really tell me anything and that I can come for app in a few months if I want.
I understand that no doctor can make a diagnosis on the phone but this is my regular doctor that I see all the time so at least I wanted to know its something that ever happens to other women or should I be worried that its a sign of somehting majorly serious. I do have app in 1 month but I am just really on pins and needles right now. Anyone experienced it before?

I wouldn't be particularly worried, but I'd make an appointment with an OB/GYN.

It did happen to me before, I had problems with irregularity for a long time. I always had check-ups and was healthy. It's better now, but it still is influenced by my stress level. I wouldn't worry too much and go to a check-up as soon as possible.

I don't think you got too much from your doctor as if he knows that you're under a lot of stress these two things kind of go hand in hand.
A girlfriend of mine started perimenopause very early and this happened to her as well as to my sister who started hers about the regular time for her.
I always had it happen no matter what on Christmas Day or NYE no matter when my regularly scheduled period showed up. Don't anymore as everybody comes to my house now...

It was more normal or typical of me to go longer periods (the longest being three months) between periods, and there was one really bad period that lasted over two weeks (I needed a D&C, ultimately--it was a fibroid), but I think I did also have a too-close series at least once. You can tell that I have had a lot of off situations. Yes, definitely get it checked out, but I wouldn't worry about it too much in the meantime.

I was going to ask how old are you Victoria. If it isn't peri-menopause it could be fibroids (most of which are benign & don't need to be removed). Always wise to check these things out, but I don't think you need worry. I do worry about your doctor's attitude though - a few months?

I have had this happen to me just a few months ago. I was also bleeding when I did heavy exercise I didn't go to the dr until it had been happening for a few months and he basically just said keep a record and come back if it hadn't got better - but it did.

The previous year I had a lot of spotting and the the Dr ordered an ultrasound which came back saying I had cysts on my ovaries - they tested for PCOS but I didn't have that and basically there was nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't be too worried. How old are you? They're now saying that perimenopause really begins ten years before actual menopause, and can have all kinds of odd symptoms. By around age 40, ovaries start to do weird things, like release two eggs in a month, or two at a time (hence the increased likelihood of having fraternal twins as maternal age passes 35), or none at all for a couple of months. Hormone levels that used to fluctuate predictably start to occasionally go wonky. Many women don't even realize it's perimenopause, since stress and other factors can also contribute to menstrual irregularities and are often blamed.

Or, possibly, you have some benign condition like uterine fibroids. They're pretty common. I had mid-cycle bleeding that got worse and worse -- it was like having two periods a month -- until my mid-cycle bleeding merged with my normal period, and I was pretty much bleeding all the time. I ended up having the fibroid surgically removed.

It's unlikely that irregular bleeding is a symptom of anything malignant or otherwise serious, but I'd make an appointment with your ob-gyn to discuss it, if it will put your mind at ease. Also, read up on menopause -- I know two women who had their last period in their mid-thirties. It happens. Age 51 is just an average.

It is not that uncommon, and probably not a sign of anything serious, but yes, it would be wise to check it out.

It's happened to me once or twice. I didn't worry much about it, to be honest. I'm normally very regular (since I started) but I accept that from time to time weirds things will happend. No body is perfect, after all. It sucks though given the fact that my period is long enough by itself to make it last even more, but if it's something random I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep an eye on next month and see if it happens again.

Happened to me just once---when I was six-ish years old.

Honestly, it could be the perimenopause or something, but unless the next cycle is gone weird, I wouldn't worry. One-off weirdness sometimes... just happens at random!

A few years ago, I experienced a similar problem. It went on for months. Finally, I went to the doctor, got thoroughly checked over (ultrasound, etc.), and they found nothing. I was then put on a very low dose birth control pill to regulate my periods, and that has worked well for me. Hope this helps.

I would occasionally get a really irregular period. Stress can definitely throw your hormones into a tizzy. So if I were you, I would not worry about it at all, unless it happens often. If you have several close together, you'd have to start getting concerned about blood iron though.

I am no medical expert, but I can tell you that things like that happened to me, and it was no big deal. In pre-menopause though, I routinely had 23-day periods, and my blood iron took a major hit. But one early period is not going to do that.
