The good news? I got my white leather jacket at Danier today on sale! Yippee!

Pics tomorrow, I hope.

Meanwhile, I have run into a problem.

My SE Petty booties, which SEEMED so comfortable on their first few wearings, are giving me blisters on the top of my toes. A really weird place, I know -- but if you own the booties you have probably noticed there is a stiffer part at the toe and then a softer part further up - my toes are hitting the stiff part and it hurts. ;-(

I think this means I need an emergency shoe purchase for the trip! Something soft, comfortable, and light coloured, preferably not completely flat ( a 1" heel to 2.5" is fine).

ARGHH!

I've had great luck with Ecco shoes in the past and may do a search there. If anybody knows of anything else I might try, I am eager to here. Ordering from Canada. Not many brick and mortar options where I live. I WILL have one short day in Toronto next week and could look there, but I would like to test whatever I buy before bringing it!

That's so disappointing :(. Have you tried putting petals (aka rubber bits) on the top of th shoe? I have to do that sometimes.

Maybe try clarks in addition to eccos. For me I just wear full on wedge boots/flat boots or converse when I travel. I gave up looking super fashionable when I walk over 10 miles a day being a tourist :). You could try a fashionable sneaker.

I don't have any answers, but I will be paying attention to this thread for my own upcoming Italy trip. Would like something at least not unattractive or gearish, but I have to say that if the choice came down to looks or comfort, it would be comfort all the way for me. I walk a lot when I travel. Good luck and sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Suz, what e-options do you have available to you? I seem to recall that Nordstrom and Zappos are off the list.

UK shops have a much better selection of walking shoes than we find in Canadian stores or sites. Lots of Clarks, Ecco, Reiker, and other European brands in styles that never make it to North America. If you have a pair of older shoes that are comfortable but maybe not quite as stylish as you'd like, I'd be tempted to wear those and look for a new pair of walking shoes while I was in London. Worst case scenerio is that you'd have to wear your old comfy shoes for the trip; best case, you'd be able to replace those older shoes with some stylish walking shoes that will be workhorses in your travel capsules for the next few years.

Yeah, I walk a lot too. On another note, Mochi - the David Bowie is SOLD OUT!!! I can't get in!!! I may resort to scalped tickets....seriously!!!!

I do have a pair of walking shoes (gear) that I can bring. So all is not completely lost. Thank you for the suggestions thus far!

Okay -that sounds good Gaylene. I was planning to do some shoe shopping anyway while I am there.....

I can bring my Stuart Weitzman booties (black), my old Franco Sarto stretch boots (which are rain immune and have a square toe so are super comfortable, if not super fashionable), and a pair of pumps for dressing up in the evening. I could bring the walking shoes just in case. I just don't want to bring something that I KNOW will lead to pain, you know?

Mona, I will try to snap jacket pics tomorrow. They also have lots of gorgeous NEW ones in ...I was tempted.

You know I have been surprised by the stylish options offered by Rockport on Zappos. I have a pair of tall boots Rockport boots and they ARE comfy although the heel is at least 3 inches. All of my prior experience (before my boots) with Rockport was the boring walking shoes worn by my elderly male professors (hence my shock and awe at the fashionable options offered on Zappos).

Sorry that your SE's are misbehaving :(. They might need a little breaking in.

That said - you must have a fall back option. I'm going to be a devil and suggest *very streamlined" and refined sassy sneakers. Go back to my pin-board for inspiration. Many of those street style pics are Euro:

I looked today, Angie! For exactly that. Unfortunately, my brick and mortar options are poor. But I do have a chance to look in Toronto and will do so. If not that, well, I will trust to the shopping goddesses in London and bring the shoes that I know won't hurt!

I may also look for this "petal" option and see if it helps.

ETA: I could also bring my Report Booties, which are super comfortable but don't work as well with my slouchy trousers (the hems get caught up in them).

I think probably I will need to wait until London unless I find something brick and mortar....but I do still have a bit of time to look in that way.

I am feeling a little better just remembering the old Franco Sartos. They are not the most high fashion but I KNOW they will do me for a 12 hour day on my feet, no matter what. So that is something.

Suz, for my upcoming trip to Croatia I settled on sassy sneakers like Angie suggested....the Josef Siebel Caspains. I only tried them in store for a few minutes, have yet to receive mine, but the reviews seems to be great. They are called the European comfort shoe....

And the Caspains are in the YLF store because my clients LOVE them - some have duplicated them in colours. Unfortunately they did not work for Amy. That said, I think you are after a higher heel.

Yes, ideally, Angie, though it doesn't have to be HIGH. I just can't do a total flat like a ballet flat or a Con. If it's an inch of lift I'm good. So oxfords are good and I was going to shop for a pair in London anyway.

ETA: I have my Ecco (gear) walking shoes (leather ones) -- these look like snazzy sneaks --- plus the red gear-ish Ecco Mary Janes I took to China. Not terribly stylish but they do well for comfort - so in a pinch I am covered.

Oh my, this is a tricky problem. You will surely want to shoe shop in London but how will you do that if your feet are in pain! But if you spend a significant amount on something local will you kick yourself (with your new shoes) when you get there and see new stuff? I think if at all possible travel with something you know works and buy something exciting in London asap!
