Need shoe advice

Just got this adorable dress and need shoes. I am a crazy shoe lover. I hate basic black shoes but I feel this dress should be the statement and the shoes shouldn't take away from it. My thoughts were a simple black block heel but that just bores me to death!! Suggestions? I definitely want block heel.

Any colour, literally, will work with this dress. In fact, black should be the last colour you choose!

The dress has such dramatic sleeves I didn't want to fight the look with shoes. However, I really want to wear pink shoes.

My first instinct would be to try it with *white booties*.
Then I would probably decide it creates too much bulk on feet (I'm short), and since there alreay is bulk at the top, the eye would not know where to land.
As a reaction, I would run to my pointy kitten heel sling-back nude pumps.
Then, once they're on, realize there wouldn't be enough visual weight on the feet, and given the voluminous sleeves, simple nude footwear would seem out of balance.
So I would go back to white, but in strappy sandals.
And strut out happily.

LOL your brain works like mine! The sleeves are heavy and dramatic so a thin heel doesn't work for me. I thought a bootie but not a high bootie. perhaps an ankle with a nice block heel.

Right now I am leaning towards a strap of some kind, a block heel.. I am just stuck on color bc I hate basic black, white and/or nude. I would love a pale pink but I don't want to confuse the eye like you said.

OK I take back what I said. I was already out and about wearing that beautiful dress and sandals in my imagination when *boom*! I remembered Dansko Thea in nude. Either that or a nude cuban heel peep toe sling-back shootie like Rockport Trixie Perf shooties.

Can't do a small heel.. but I am looking at a similar style from Madden. I saw a pretty lavender and a pretty pink. I'm thinking of ordering them to see how they look with the dress.

I think any strong or vibrant color shoe would work and agree that dramatic bold heel would be needed for such a beautiful and bold dress. On the other hand ......Perhaps if the black shoe had some great embellishment it would not seem as boring ( plus there is some cute shoe jewelry out there that amps up looks of “plain janes”). No matter which way you go- the dress is striking, can’t wait to see pictures of you wearing it.

I think pink would be lovely-but to my eye it should be a hot pink, not a pale pink. If you wear pink in your shoes maybe you could pick up the color elsewhere with really great pink lippie, or nail color.

Krishnidoux, I love the Dansko Thea suggestion - a fantasy shoe for me (Dansko as a fantasy shoe? Weird, right?!) super cute with a little heft that only a clog can give. <<sigh>> maybe in days gone by, but no more.....

I love brown and black combinations. A brown leather or faux leather shoe would work well, or even a burgundy color. Or maybe a nude or taupe wedge.
