I know this doesn't quite answer your question, or help you if you've already determined what two colours you want to wear together, but I find it easier to start with one of my clothing items, then find a scarf including that colour or close to it. Then I choose another colour that's in the scarf and shop my closet or even purchase new to bring in that second colour. It's just easier to find a solid colour or tone-on-tone print in a regular garment than it is to find a scarf with the two colours you happen to want to pull together.
However, when I'm determined to pull an outfit together, I've even bought a length of drapey print fabric and fringed or hemmed it myself. Sometimes it's easier that way to find the colour mix I want for a scarf. Even though the colours don't have to match exactly, I still want an accessory such as a scarf to look like I planned it to go with an outfit, rather than something I just threw on as I ran out the door.
