Need opinions on this jacket

So the military jacket I found in my closet is going back to Value Village... through my new YLF-tinted glasses, it is not right for me, plus it is far too flimsy for most of the weather here. I do love military style and always have, so I don't see any currently trendy items as unwearable once the trend passes. With all that in mind, I have been watching this jacket for months, and it just went on sale:

It's grey, which is of course my default color and I was hoping to branch out. But it will work with everything I currently own. Is it too young? Too blah? Advice needed!

Love it. Nice military details without being over done. Military is mainstream now so you aren't going to look like a kid wearing it. You are just going to look great.

It's neutral so you will have fun trying different tops, scarves, etc to see what compliments it.

I've found that Nordstrom is good about shipping more than one size of an item. Then you can try them on and hopefully one will fit to perfection. Do they charge extra shipping to Alaska?

Late Bloomer, they actually don't charge at all if I order through the store here.

Angie, I do often wear petite bottoms, but my shoulders are broad for petite tops - it really just depends on the item in question. I think I'll have to try... I'm 5'1" and it may not be the right length. Will post pictures if I order it.

Also, that DVF "poison green" moto jacket is now on sale on their site. "On sale" meaning still more than I would pay, but tempting!

I LOVE this jacket except for the ruffle detail on the shoulder. If you are self-concious about your shoulder width, that might not be optimal--not that I have any reason to think you should be from seeing your photos--I just mention it because you said it was a fit-issue. I don't know--I am in a very discerning mood right now, so if you don't really want sometime else in grey, I vote skip it. Even though I like charcoal grey jackets. On the other hand there is some advice that to save money but be stylish it makes sense to stick with only one neutral color for outerwear, accessories, etc. That makes sense to me as well. No help at all? sorry.

Scarlet, that is SO helpful! You are outlining my exact (and circular!) thought process... Thank you for pointing out the shoulder detail issue! I never wear puff sleeves but these appear to be more of a decorative touch? I appreciate the discerning mood, believe me. I have been way better about returning things that are not PERFECT since YLF, so maybe I'll order and learn a lesson if nothing else.

Hi Alaska. It is cute, however, there are two things that I'm not sure I would like in real life. One is the uneven hem (see last pic with jacket unbuttoned) and the second is those ruffles at the shoulder. On the other hand, it's free shipping. I'd give it a shot.
