Hi everyone, I'm asking for bag recommendations and opinions, does anyone have a Latico bag? Also any and all makeup brand suggestions would be much appreciated, I was assigned male at birth, but am correcting that injustice, thank God for estrogen, I'm HAPPILY in a bra now!!! SO EXCITING!!

Hi Alyssa and welcome. Some people are “bag people” and some are not: I’m not so I can’t help! As far as bras, I have often preferred soft cup ( no underwire) when smaller- was once an A cup- but can cope with underwire for the last decade. And a lot of us like wearing “my lips but better” (MLBB) type lipsticks, once we figure what that colour is for us personally. For me it is a soft brick red.

I get most from Etsy shops like All Natural Face and Willow Tree Minerals, cause it's important for me to have vegan/cruelty free stuff. In general the Etsy shops are great about selling samples, so you don't have to get full sizes of something that may not be quite right.

Hi Alyssa, I tend to wear different bras depending on what I’m doing — lacy for fun peeking out the top of blouses, skintone to go under white tops, stretchy for exercise or hiking — there are so many pretty ones out there, bralettes are nice for A/B cups, because if they show it looks intentional with the lace straps.I don’t have answers about the bag but just wanted to say welcome and looking forward to your outfits if you like posting them.

I'm not much of a bag or make up person, so not much help. The make up class classes are a great idea. I was going to suggest scheduling a makeover at a store, but that's even better.

I LOVE bags, and have many Furlas and an incredible Valentino. They are extremely robust and beautiful, and last for years!

As for makeup, I like Clinique and YSL mascara the best. I also use Anastasia eyebrow pencil, and Laura Mercier tightline. Bobbi Brown cream blush is fab, and so is Urban Decay lipstick. I don't wear cover-up make-up on my skin, so maybe others can chime in about that. Have fun exploring and experimenting

Hi! I was assigned female at birth, but hrt has me feeling grateful for estrogen too;) I’m not super into the makeup and other things some people say women “need” to be feminine. If I carry a bag, it’s usually cross-body, so I can use my hands for other things. Enjoy your experimenting and finding and settling into your style.

With bags there are several things to consider including:
What do you want to carry?
Do you want to have one day bag per season or one for the year?
Or do you want to change bags with your outfit?
Do you want evening bags? If so, do you want a clutch or something with a chain so you can wear it while dancing?
If you are commuting will you carry a tote for shoes, laptop, etc?
Do you like soft or structured bags?
What proportion do you like to your body?
Do you like to carry a handbag or wear a shoulder bag?
If you choose a shoulder bag, how long do you want it?
Do you want it to stand out (pop of color) or be one part of your whole look?
A subdued metallic color, or matching your hair color or something similar to your hair color, will often work with a lot of outfits.
Do you want your bags to last for years or change them up often?
What’s your budget?

Welcome, Becoming Alyssa! I am not a bag person. I usually have one or two bags, and that is it. I love make-up. I watch YouTube videos for ideas. Many good ones depend on what you are looking to learn. I like Lisa Eldridge, Wayne Goss, Lisa J and a few others.
Make-up lessons are a good idea.
My style is a natural look, so I go with natural make-up. Others go for something different. I never wear foundation or anything on my complexion.
My basics are an MLBB lipstick (my lips but better), eyeshadow (3 shades to contour and emphasize my eyes), eyeliner, mascara and maybe bronzer. I use mostly MAC because the colours work for me.

After nearly 69 years, I am still trying to figure out makeup, or at least foundation and concealer. You need to consider whether your skin is dry, oily, combo, balanced, or sensitive. And that’s before color! Counters at Nordstrom and I think Sephora can squirt out little samples. Makeup tends to oxidize on me so ends up darker than in the bottle.

Getting foundation color right at least for me has been really really hard. I’m Asian raised in the US so more tanned than you are likely to find in Asia. Most colors here are for white people and don’t have enough yellow for me. I think I found my color in a NARS line — which is breathtakingly expensive. Ugh!

Barbara, thank you for all of your thoughts!!!! So much to consider, I'm going to be a bag addict, I know I'll be very fashion conscious, needing my bag to match my outfit, and go with my nail color of course! I'm going to need lots of bags and clutches I think

Welcome to YLF! I am not really into makeup so I am no help there, but there have been lots of threads here on the topic, so that could be a fun place to start. Re. bags: You have gotten great advice from lots of different posters already! Aesthetics are important, as is function, as others have mentioned. I would do lots of browsing and checking different bags out in-person, complete with trying on, to see what suits you, your style, and your needs.
