Need opinion on these booties for Scotland trip

I just got these booties for my upcoming early spring trip to Scotland:

I love how they are waterproof. Also, the first half of the trip, we will be exploring a craggy island, so they are rugged enough to withstand lots of walking. But style-wise, what do you think?? Are they versatile enough for the city too?

I'm planning to wear them with skinny jeans and/or black leggings.

They look like they could work very well....for a very casual trip, that is. I personally might feel a bit too casual in the city...but my style is a bit on the dressier side. And my one concern is that they also look like they might need some breaking in to be comfy and you may not have time to do that ahead of time?

The lug sole makes them look very casual to me. They look comfy though, that seems to be key for travel. I would bring a pair of more dressy shoes along as well.

Yes I do think you could amp the chic ante with these boots in the city. Skinny jeans and tights are perfect!

I think they will be perfect but wear them a bit before you go and find out your sock preferences and if they rub anywhere

I wore my lug-soled snow boots in the city and elsewhere in Japan, and felt like I looked just fine. I say "go for it!" Just remember, leggings are not pants!

I know you will look great wearing the boots in both Aaran and the Glasgow.

You would just need a different pair for the evening.

I do think they look perfect for your country escapades. They could work fof the city if styled right, like Suz I prefer a dressier look but as Mary says, go for it. I have to say that I also think they look quite a strong leather and may need breaking in.

I really like those and would personally wear them in the city (I have sort of a rugged bent to my normal style anyway). I have a couple pairs of Timberlands and love love love the comfort factor.

I am not a "rugged" dresser, so personally, I would prefer black. But I agree with MaryK that they can look great. I have been to Edinburgh in early Fall and it was cold, wet and miserable...and your boots would have fit right in !

I agree with the others :

break them in beforehand
tights are not pants, but skinny ponte pants are ( and they are great for hiking )

also, I recommend ( again ) lightweight merino wool socks.

I like 'em! I also have a bit of a rugged bent and I would not hesitate to wear these around town. Maybe not out to dinner, but for sightseeing they are fine.

I say go for it, but I dress casual, especially when travelling, its all in the attitude. I have (unexpectedly) been taken to a silver service restuarant (sp?) in Majorca and wore my hiking boots with black drawstring pants, black T and a black/white scarf and no-one visibly batted an eyelid. This is why I always travel with a couple of scarves, they can help dress up any outfit.

Having said that since then I have discovered a lite weight pair of Mary Janes and on your type of holiday I would pack these for going out to dinner etc, cos in the past I have become sick of wearing my hiking boots/shoes all the time eg once spent 2 months in NZ with only hiking boots and thongs!

I think they are perfect! I may have to get a pair myself :). Timberland makes excellent boots.
