Need opinion on a new skirt! - YouLookFab Forum

I got a new skirt (yes, another skirt!). I bought this fabric some time ago and asked my mom to make a skirt for me. It is teal, lace, midi and high-waisted!
I wore it today for the first time and I need an honest opinion.
It is not very tapered on the bottom (pic. 1). Does it look OK like this or should I taper it like in pic.2?
I know it is a no brainer with higher heels but I don't wear high heels too often so I plan to wear this skirt withlow heels and flats. Here it is with my nude Fidjis with 1.5 in heels. Does it look frumpy at this length and silhouette?
pic.3 shows the fabric texture better but the color is more accurate in pic. 1-2.

It's nice both ways, but I prefer it tapered. That colour/pattern is lovely!

for reasons I cannot articulate, I think I'd like this skirt if it were shorter. And I loved you in the flared midis you purchased earlier, so it's not that I have a poison eye for midis But of the two options I prefer it without the taper. Otherwise, it's a fab skirt in terms of material and fit!

That fabric is so beautiful Sveta - I can see why you'd want a skirt made of it. I love the length of the skirt and it can definitely work with flats. No frump factor at all. I do prefer it a bit more tapered though (as long as you can walk in it!).

Looks like universal opinion is to taper...this was my thinking too. Now I need to blackmail my mom into tapering it: for some reason she was adverse to this idea...

I love either #1 or #2 but I prefer tapered. However, I think #1 is different from the stuff you already own.

I want to vote for it to be tapered, but I'm anxious to see what Angie says, since she knows *what's coming* down the fashion turnpike, so to speak, and how to do the slouchy, soft styled dressing. Well at this length it looks like an unintentional midi to me. It is the fabric that makes it not work for me. If it was a more stretchy form fitting fabric, I think it would work better at this length. For me, I would prefer this skirt hit right to the top of the knee cap. I understand lengthening is not a priority for you, so take my feedback with a grain of salt.

I prefer it NOT tapered, actually. But either way, that is an AWESOME garment, Sveta! Absolutely head over heels in love with it, and you wear midis so very well with your long legs!

I like it either way, but I voted to taper.

I prefer it non-tapered Sveta, simply because tapering it makes it look like a pencil skirt--and you have at least one of those. The non-tapered version gives you a different skirt silhouette, and one that I like on you. I also think the fabric lends itself better to the non-tapered style.

Besides, you can always taper it later if you find you just aren't pulling it out of your closet to wear.

I have nothing constructive to say other than I think the combo is really elegant but still interesting )colors, textures) subtle and dramatic. I love looking at your WIWs because you pull off some very interesting things . . . but it is always about you, you look gorgeous and the clothes accentuate your features and your statuesque presence. I rarely see you in something that is wearing you.

Joining the minority but fro. These pics I prefer #1. I actually find #2 entering the frumpy zone!! Can't put my finger on why, but #1 seems to be create a perfect balance of proportions. It's a lovely skirt.

Well, opinions are quite divided: taper and good length, not taper and good length, shorten to the knee...

Gorgeous skirt! I actually like it tapered and also non tapered as each gives it a different feel. Your call!

Rita, actually this fabric is quite stretchy and follows my hips pretty closely. It just not tapered over my thighs.

I do have 2 pencil skirts but they both end on the knee and none is midi length so either tapered or not this is a new shape for me.
