Need Opinion: Green Dress - YouLookFab Forum

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA recently.

Things have been so busy! I leave the house before my husband really wakes up, so I haven't had a chance for him to take any outfit pictures. We're moving, so on weekends we've been doing spring cleaning and packing. I'm on the board of my writing group and also chairperson of a committee, so I've been doing a lot of things related to those recently. Phew! But we just completed the goal the committee was formed to accomplish, so I should have a little more time over the next few weeks.

I recently picked up this dress at Nordstrom Rack. I love the color and I think the shape is pretty good, but I'd love some second opinions.

It's cotton lace over a same color slip. I was thinking this might be a good go-to dress for any "business casual" events I have to attend (with a jacket or cardigan layered over the top). I'm finding that I need a few dresses that fall into this category and I don't really have any right now. Do you think it would work for those kinds of events?

What do you guys think? Is the shape without a belt okay, or is it better belted? Is the green lace too much? I have a hard time with finding the right green. This one is kind a jade/emerald color.

I love the color and I like it belted the best. Of course, you can throw on some accessories too for some extra oomph. All in all, i love the dress.

Hmmm... I like it, but I don't love it. Love the color on you and the lace, but I am not completely sold on the shape. Having said that, I generally have trouble adjusting my eye to looser shapes so I could be completely off the mark.

I love that color and the classic shape with that cool lace twist. Personally, I prefer it without the belt, especially because the dress' simplicity would set accessories off beautifully.

Love it unbelted - fab color on you! I feel like it bunches in an odd way when belted, and also creates an awkward 1:1 proportion.

I really like it un-belted, Ana! Perfect for TX heat. I don't think it works all that well belted, though.

Ana, I prefer it unbelted for mod look and I also think it is more flattering this way.
Try it unbelted with some edgy footwear like cage wedges or gladiators.
It should work with a cropped jacket or cardi over it or with a long BF jacket or cardigan. I find this shape is hard to pair with any other types of toppers.

I prefer it unbelted, but am not in LOVE with it. Love the color and the lace, but it's probably the 2D image that doesn't make it work for me as well as it should.

Alicat, I tried one size smaller, but I thought it hugged my hips too much and kind of ruined the A-line shape.

Love it unbelted! The belt distracts me from the pretty pretty lace.

I LOVE the dress and much prefer it unbelted! It fits beautifully as is. If you are going to belt, I think a thinner and lighter belt may be better in this instance.

Hmmmm. Well, I LOVE the color!! I think I like it better without a belt, but it needs a shrunken cardi, maybe??

This is a great color on you! definitely unbelted. there's a great tailor on Burnet I use if you wanted to get it ever-so-slightly customized n any direction.

I love this unbelted, but then you can also jazz it up with a long Y necklace, to make a focal point nearby wour waist, or so. Grreat color and not so dressy, so perfect for purpose.

That's a great dress! The color is very nice on you and it's cotton?!! BBQ! I love it loose without the belt. It would be cute styled like a flapper girl, with a long necklace and dressy flats. Now you just need something to put in your hair, lol!

Yes, love it unbelted on you -- subtle mod! Have you tried one of your cute jackets/toppers over it? Navy? Cream? White? You can have lots of fun with this!
