OK, I am going to put together a comprehensive collage of hair styles to show new stylists, including my own hair and the styles I'm trying to emulate. I doubt I'm going to have much luck finding people on the street whose hair I like, since everyone is walking around in hats right now! I'll keep my eyes peeled indoors though.

Question: Do you think Katie's hair here is soooo 2007? Will it look nice without the dramatic side parting? I can't part my hair that far to the side without it falling in my face. I also wonder if her hair is a little wavier than mine. Maybe it's not quite right for me?

I love that style. Kind of a like a more modern bob. Her hair may be wavier, but I think much of it is in the cut. I think it would work without the deep side part, maybe with a slight zigzag part.

I love that style, and my hair was like that a few months ago. Or should I say, it was like that the day I walked out of the salon, but it was very hard to maintain. The way it flips up exactly the same amount on both sides is not what happened, let me tell you. I spent quite a bit of time getting it to fall correctly. But it totally depends on your hair. I don't think it's too '07, but a bob is never cool, in my experience. And mine kept turning into a bob, and then I would feel very uncool.

My hair tends to flip naturally, so I'm not too concerned about that. My former haircut was similar and I would usually just blowdry the top for volume and let the ends dry more naturally (or if they really looked bad, I'd tame them with a straightening iron). Mostly I don't really care if it flips or not, as long as I can get the messy cuteness, but my hair is naturally more sleek and shiny than matte and messy.

I think your hair will look even better than Katie's in this style, precisely because it is more sleek and shiny.

Hmm weird, it works for me. It takes a second to load for some reason, but it works. I'm not sure how to fix it since I can't see the problem. Oh well.

Oooh, I like that a lot! It seems very approachable, not overly done or anything like that. And flattering. I'm jealous, actually - having curly hair that is not ever going to be an option for me but it looks great. I really really like it.

I use Firefox, and I have a Mac. Not sure if that makes a difference. I saw five photos in the collage. The only thing I might suggest is adding more photos of yourself from different angles, if you have them. I would think that the more they can see of the style on your hair, the better. But regardless, it's really obvious what style you want, based on the photos.

Maya, I had to smile when I saw your collage because all but one of the pictures are in my "cute hair file" of inspiration pictures, and I've used the lower 2 to take to my stylist to show her what I wanted. Super cute!

I'm using firefox on a Mac and can see the collage as well. Sounds promising. I love the style but don't know much about how easy it would be to cut, maintain etc.

I've had this cut and I think it works with a less dramatic parting. Plus you're in luck if your hair flips easily. It's easy to style and it grows out well. I also think Laura maybe right and this cut will look even better with your hair type.

Ooh, that blonde style would be a fab haircut for you Maya! I want to go for a shorter length style like that but my stylist says I have too much hair (darn!)
