Need input on nude hose...

I like to layer hosiery in cold weather but have a very hard time finding nudes that match my skin color. They are either too pale and ashy or too dark and orange. Has anyone tried these? They seem like they might be worth springing for.

I have no idea what color to try. Either AO3 or BO2 seem plausible. My legs get a bit pale in the winter. But who can be sure just based on those swatches?

I'm afraid I can't help you with this one Maya because I haven't worn hosiery/pantyhose in years (probably because I live in a surf town in So. CAL!) But I would really like to hear about how you wear this "look" - layering nudes? I'm curious! Am I missing out on something that is really fun/cool to wear???

Marley, I like to put nude hose under hole-y hose like microfishnets and other textured tights for warmth (and because I shave less in winter...).

Maya, you might need to order both and return what doesn't work - online colors can be so fickle!

Maya - does it really matter? You can hardly see the colour against your skin underneath textured black hose (I am speaking from my own experiences too). This is where you can save money. Buy cheap flesh toned hose for layering.

I wear $3 drugstore nude hose for layering. Works like a charm. If you go back to my Fashion Week outfit pics for Feb - you'll see them in action under a lot more expensive hose. Like Wolford expensive hose

I have the same problem in finding the right "nude" for my skintone. Angie, that is a great tip!

Wow, also would have never thought about layering. Do you ever just wear nude hose, Maya? I was so glad when it was acceptable to have bare legs but I was wearing some thigh-high stockings the other day for warmth that just happened to be nude and I actually liked it quite a bit. You are reading my mind because I also have such a problem matching to my skin tone. I went to Nordstrom yesterday but didn't think to look there...darn. A03 looks like it might be perfect for me (with my summer tan)!

ETA: I lied, I think B02 might be the best match. Do you take a medium? If you buy them and they don't match you I'd buy them off you.

Wow - this is one of those "I can't believe that never occurred to me.". I live in Chicago where we layer EVERYTHING else in the winter. Why not hose??? Thanks!

Just when you think you're starting to graduate to the YLF older preschooler level, something like this comes along and smacks you right back to the toddler group. Layering hose never even occurred to me! Thanks Maya! (Also, finding out that Angie wears drug store hose for layering is quite comforting.)

I'm glad this info helped a few people. Quail, I take a small. I know some people here size up for hosiery but that has never worked for me. I never wear nude hose on its own. As I said, I can't find the right color anyway, but even if I did I just don't like the look of nude hose.

I tried a drugstore brand last week and they got a big hole behind my knee (??) the first time out...my expensive microfishnets were fine! It does all add up, money-wise, so I am going to get a slightly nicer pair next time (dept store) and expect to get more wears out of them.

Maya, the color of the nude hose was very important to me, as you can see right through the fishnets. I looked at two "nudes" at the store...one was clearly darker and would have looked very odd, and the other was perfect...so unless you're layering textured, closed-knit tights, it's worth finding a good skin tone match, imo.

Hmm, some of my tights are more fine gauge than others. I was thinking of these. They seem like they might be sheer enough to let my skin color come through.

But some of the reviews say they run easily and I am notoriously hard on my hosiery.
