Need input on new BR purchases

I would love your thoughts on some recent purchases from BR. These are the sloan slim ankle pants recommended to me by Adelfa.

The blue ones are regular length, which as you can see is almost full length on me as opposed to the ankle length they were intended. The green ones are longs. So YLFers, what do we think? Do either length look good? Should I try the petites? Are petites smaller overall or just shorter?

Feel free to give opinions on the tops as well. Thanks for looking!

I'm not really 100% up on how long things are supposed to be, but I like the first pair and would wear them as is. I think they look especially good with your pumps.

Petites will probably be smaller overall, and definitely shorter in the rise, than regulars.

The blue are better for pumps. The green better with flats.

I am with KKards on this. To my eye, these pants are not meant to have "scrunch" like a skinny -- they are more of a cigarette style I think, and as such I think they look better when they fall smoothly and do not bunch.

But Angie is the expert here. She might argue for making them shorter (to make them do what is intended). And she might also suggested toned in footwear. In any case, I think the choice of footwear is crucial to making the look work.

BR pants -- I can absolutely attest that there is a difference in the sizing, since I've just been experimenting with that. The rise is much shorter on the petites, the length is shorter (obviously) and the sizing is smaller all round. I sized down one full size in regulars from petites.

Hi Liz, I'm not an expert but I agree with Suz that these pants aren't meant to scrunch, so I like the shorter length. Also, I also sized up a size in petites and just generally did not prefer that fit. I have a long rise too.

Love them with the gold pumps!

Ack I just can't decide! At first I liked the blue, but the green look much better to me in these pictures.

Suz, you mentioned the footwear. I just threw these options on. What footwear would you recommend? I think the blue look just terrible with flats. I've been wearing capris all summer, and they're so easy as far as footwear goes.

totally from left-field here - i LOVE that mint (?) green sweater - has the chunky look, without looking too chunky, if that makes any sense at all. no help on pants though; i'm not up on dress-pant styles. good luck with your decisions!

Well, I am no expert in the footwear department, so I truly hesitate to offer counsel. But with this type of pant, I think it is the style and shape of the toe that matters. You need something refined and very modern looking. Round toes are not going to work as well as an almond toe or a pointy toe. I would look at how they're styled in the selling images -- even though you plan to wear them as full length pants, the images of how they are selling them might be a place to start for footwear ideas. It's possible that round-toed pumps with a small or higher heel would work, but for flats - the shoe can't be super casual.

I wear mine with almond toe flats and pumps, and with pointy toe booties when it's cold.

I think they both work in a different way. Green ones are more slouchy and blue ones are straight, more like cigarette pants.
As for the footwear I do prefer both with a heel. It does not need to be a high heel like in your pumps but even 1" heel looks better with them to my eye that complete flats.
In the end I would go with the look you like more!

I do not wear heels, so I hesitate to comment. But, I think #1 is too long. It does not look intentional to my eye. #5, however, seems to be the correct length.
