I picked up this skirt at a recent clothing exchange for several reasons (besides it being free ).
1. I'm off my pencil skirts and this has a different shape.
2. The colors are perfect for me - black, grey, white and purple.
3. My friend talked me into it.
My sister wore a skirt with a similar shape yesterday (see photo 3 - BTW her legs never seem to get cold - she dresses like this all winter) and inspired me to try this one today. I tried it with a white shirt and heeled boots (Photo 1) but then changed because it seemed too schoolgirl-ish. I tried a grey sweater (no photo) but it was too clingy in my midsection so I finally changed to this black skirt and flat boots. At this point I ran out of time and needed to leave (I should have just ditched the skirt and wore pants). It's not my favorite outfit.
I can't seem to get away from the schoolgirl vibe. It must be the plaid. Is there a way to style this so it fits my style better? Would tights help (no bare knees)? Or should I just get rid of the skirt? It was free so there's no pressure to make it work. I'll just recycle it back at the next clothing exchange.
