ETA: Have decided to proceed with bootcut jeans--ordered dark and medium wash that I'm reasonably sure will fit. On to picking a couple of tops for a few chilly evenings. Maybe new black or brown boots depending on tops. Realizing I probably need a new coat/jacket, too.
I am a planner, but cannot get an idea/commitment for what will be happening when I go visit a friend in a couple of weeks and this is stressful. Visiting brother and his friends (in Nashville). I anticipate at least some meals out and going to hear some music. Brother is more stylish than me by a long shot. I don't want to keep up, but I don't want to stick out.
I almost never go out at home except to my favorite places, which are very casual.
Just want to feel confident/un-self-conscious so I can have a good time. Already a little anxious about meeting new people, moreso in their early to mid-thirties.
Almost all the casual outfits I see involve skinny jeans and booties. With very full thighs and relatively skinny calves, I feel unbalanced in outfits with skinny jeans or looks that taper at the ankle. Unfortunately, I have a drawer full of skinny jeans I never wear because I am uncomfortable with the look on me.
I'm 5 feet tall, about 125 lbs, *short torso* (usually choose petite tops for this reason), carrying excess weight in my thighs, and now my upper arms as I get older (I'm 41).
I'm for purchasing some new items, so that I'm set for a while in terms of weekend wear.
I would really appreciate suggestions/inspiration for "safe" outfits (as uninspirational as that may sound to many of you, ha!) that would see me through what my upcoming trip may bring :).
