Need help: orphaned leopard booties.

A bandwagon purchase oprhaned. Sigh. I really like these but the light color makes them so hard to wear for me. I tried adding this necklace, which I pulled out of my to-be-consigned pile. Is there any hope?

Please ignore wet and unstyled hair! I'm drying it while I hope for wisdom from YLF!

I love these booties - have you ever worn them? I think they work well with this dress because there is white in it which bookends the booties. To my eye, as novice as it is, you need to have white in the upper part of your outfit to work with these as there is definitely more white in the booties than black. Are they comfortable?

Shannon, the booties are true leopard so tan and black, and the dress has tan stripes. I've learned my lesson about white shoes! They are comfortable though I've only worn them ONCE! The shame...

Whoops - shows up as white on my monitor. But you get what I'm saying - I think as long as you have the lighter colour in your outfit somewhere, they work. Of course, if you really hate them you could send them to me....

I like it! I think I'd prefer sans necklace. What about trying a cream element on top--vest or scarf or something? IDK just thinking out loud. I bet they would look fab with black pencil and Equipment blouse. Gorgeous boots! Don't give up yet--they are so fab!

I wear my dalmatian booties with white tops n jackets, but i know how you feel about white... Maybe you need a metallic cold moto! In seriousness though, what about all black, back skinnies, and having these be a pop of color? Hm or getting a wide leopard belt like angie has? Do you have any chunky gold jewelry?

I love the boots. They are a great neutral pop of color if that makes sense. A scarf or handbag or something in the same color with the rest all black. Kinda what Rae said I guess.

Love those boots! I agree, though, about a lighter top. I've had good luck wearing my lighter 'vogs with dark jeans and a lighter top. I know, I've got the blond bookend thing working too, but really do try them with dark jeans and a lighter top.

What colors can you wear in the cream to tan range? Can't you wear orange? Tan is just orange having a really dull day, you know....

I bet if you wore a dark jean or bottom so make the contrast more extreme between the top and bottom, a non-cream or tan shirt, like an orange one, would work.

They look fantastic with this dress and statement necklace!!!

Another styling idea: I would wear them with bf or skinny jeans rolled so the pants just graze the top of the booties (so, a little longer than typical). Then, experiment with toppers like a black jacket (leather moto or your Theory open jacket) and different color tops. Either white, grey, black or soft brown/taupe to pick up the brown hues of the booties.

I'm with Denise. Just go for some lighter tops and you're all set! But they work great with the dress, too.

If you wear a lot of black and skirts, I can see why these booties aren't working for you. The height on these seems like they are meant to go with pants, not skirts.

I wear my leopard booties with slim jeans, black ponte leggings, or black pants, and brown, red/burgundy, or blue tops. I have a leopard print cardigan that is an allmost exact match for the leopard print in the booties. I'm pasty-pale with auburn hair...point is, it's autumn and leopard print likes that. As others have suggested, try some pants and a lighter top.

If they were mine, I'd wear them with head-to-toe black: black skinny jeans and a flattering tee or black silk blouse, and leather jacket with hardware. And big silver earrings, or else a big silver necklace.

I have no idea if you have any of those things!

Do you have some very light wash BF jeans? Or any very light wash jeans? That might be low contrast enough that they don't feel like a surprise.

Perhaps you're just not used to light-colored shoes on yourself. I think they are chic and funky. Don't assume they are mainstream just because a lot of people on YLF have gravitated to them.

Your dress is bold, which competes with the bold shoes. Maybe a subtler outfit will let the shoes make a statement.

Now let me get this straight - they were made from an orphaned leopard? And then it got made into boots? Man, that leopard just couldn't get a break. (sorry, couldn't help myself)
