Need help on "Petite"

I need some advise on dressing for my Sis-in-law, who's about 5" tall. Her figure is hourglass, & I think her torso is ok, her legs are ... umm ... short (I don't like putting it this way)

Important thing is, right now she wears jeans-tops, but long term, according to our culture she will have to mainly dress in Salwar kurta, (with dupatta (drape))

Kurta is a fitted dress, of any style, mid-thigh to below knee length,
& salwar can be a skinny leggings, flared pants or the classic salwar or patiyala (please google an image, as I can't upload one) these are of soft flowing fabric & not jeans

Please advise, what style should the top dress be, & which of the lowers she can & can't wear.

Welcome! We have members here who will be able to advise you more precisely on the niceties of this particular style, I'm certain, but maybe you'll need to start a new topic with the heading Petite in kurta/ salwar? How to style? Or something like that, because with the current subject heading they won't see it.

Looking forward to others' responses, but my initial thoughts were, if she is under 5' it is probable a shorter kurta will look better with narrow or boot cut leggings, and if she is able to wear a heel that will be good. If she is a busty hourglass, a V neckline (with an under layer for coverage if this is needed for modesty) or similar might be flattering. If a small busted hourglass then higher necklines.

I agree that the length of the top should not be too long. As for bottoms, my only advice is to avoid really skinny or really wide legged styles for this figure type.

I am petite myself and we also need to wear salwar kurta after marriages mostly. But I do wear them in family functions and all those formal occasions.
If your sis-in-law as I assume is like me thin and petitie, I think straight cut tops just above the knee would look great with slim (churidar) salwars. Punjabi or patiyala salwars tend to make legs look fat and add volume that will make the person even more small. And yes do add some heels with the churidars you will lengthen the legs.
