Outfits Ensembles Trends Advice

Need help defining this mish-mash.

I went to pinterest and tried to pick the inspirations pics I always go back to. What I ended up with was a mish-mash of styles. I like crisp clean colorful styles, styles that lean more masculine, bohemian style, modern edgy, and styles that are almost Zen-like. Here is the link to the page.

When I was trying come up with a style moniker, I came up with Accidental Eclectic Casual. Maybe now that I've gone through and looked at what I love, it makes even more sense? I can't seem to widdle it down to any one look and am not sure I really want to. Any thoughts?

One thing I did realize, there is a reason there are no skinny jeans in my closet. It also seems to make sense why I keep going back to these 2 items at UO.

Hi Wendy, I see mostly what I'd call casual Boho or casual Zen ... I notice that the two outfits that do not really fit the mold include the bright pink, I'm wondering if it the color that it catching you? Colorful Casual Eclectic maybe? Or Eclectic Coloful Boho?

I like your Accidental Eclectic Casual though - if it feels good to you, try it on for a while!

Torontogirl, I think you are right about the pink. I just bought a bag with bright pink trim and brightly colored floral top with pink. But then, I tend to not wear or use those type of items that often, rarely actually. I usually end up going back to the nuetrals.

I'm going to commit to not buying anymore pink until I actually wear or use the items in my closet more often.

The colors in the top strike me as soft enough to be "neutral-esque" rather than colorful

One of my goals this year is to really observe where there is divergence between what I like to look at, what I like to buy and what I like to actually wear. Perhaps this is something you consider with your pink! (Which I love too, for the record)

Interesting! To me this is straight up what I call DIY Hipster. That is, my old neighborhood where I still work at the bakery and which has lots of artisan shops... all these looks would be right at home (except the button down and fuschia pants). The fashion factor is high but not... uptight?

I don’t know if you will find this helpful Wendy but what I do wth my Pinterest boards is go through and pick out any reoccurring themes regardless of style.So for example all your outfits are maxi length and are slouchy in silhouette ,mainly but not exclusively long sleeved but definitely no excess flesh on display and as Torontogirl has said softly coloured,dungarees appear more than once as do wideleg trousers.This then gives me the basis of what appeals to me visually in an outfit,l try and bear this in mind when shopping,outfit planning etc..

Rachylou, I'm a middle aged hipster. Well, that explains alot. Like my penchant for vegetable gardening and the fight with my city for backyard chickens.

Mostly dramatic, natural and ethereal Im seeing-with the strong shapes and sheer fabrics. Truth is beauty site shows the combinations for more ideas (warning rabbit hole). The challenge will be to adapt it to different parts of your life and weather conditions!

Thanks, Suntiger. I really never thought dramatic, but can see it now.

I removed the 2 pink outfits and showed my husband the board. I asked him if it reflected the way I dress now. He said yes, but an upgraded version of me. When I asked him for 3 adjectives to describe the way I dress, he gave me; comfortable, casual, and cute. The first 2 words I'm fine with, but cute? It bothers me a little, but not the point of despair or anything.

A couple of more details. I like my hair very short. Think boyish pixie. Also, I like my make-up to be very natural. Nails, only French manicures.

One thing that is really important to me......that I never look like I tried too hard. I'd almost rather be mess than to look like I spent hours putting an outfit together, even if I had.

Rereading this post, along with the board and my husbands thoughts, I guess I like a low maintenance, casual, easy going look. A little boho hippie, but not too much. And, I'm most drawn to earthy nuetrals that have an almost Zen-like feel, quiet colors. I do like to occasionally wear something bright and fun, but not often enough to justify filling a shelf, let alone a closet.

With all these things in mind, I think my goal will be......Quiet Sophistcated Hippie

I like Modern Hippie or Sophisticated Hippie. Sophisticated Zen. A few Yoga teachers I know make clothing similar to the finds you posted. Zen and Hippie work to describe those looks to me.

Thank you, ladies. I think modern is better than sophisticated and Zen better than quiet for more than just fashion aspirations. So.....
