Need help accessorizing this dress

Hello! Hubby & I have been invited to a fancy gala dinner next weekend. Fancy dress is definitely a wardrobe gap for me, but I just found this dress, which I love! Please forgive the crappy dressing room pic, and please ignore the bra strap

Question is, how should I accessorize? I've got a gold clutch that will complement the gold embroidery nicely, but any footwear suggestions? It's super cold here, but I think this dress might be screaming for a strappy heeled sandal? Suggestions? Would it be really tacky to wear sandal toe stockings? Never worn them in my life - I've always avoided bare legs until June! LOL

What about jewelry? With the high neck and embroidery, I'm thinking I don't need a necklace, but I'll throw it out there to all you stylish women!

Gorgeous dress, how fun!!

I think you could wear classic pumps in black or gold, or a closed toe elegant heel, which would mean stockings would be easier.

I would avoid a necklace and either wear a bracelet (or two or three) and simple earrings, or bolder earrings and maybe a bracelet/cuff. My first thoughts are simple sparkly earrings with bolder armwear. The gold clutch sounds perfect.

And what will you wear on arrival? A cape/coat/jacket/wrap or similar would be great. I have two vintage furs that I pull out but I know that can be controversial (one is 80 years old and one is 40 years old and I inherited them).

Yes! I like the gold pump idea. As long as I can find some that are a bit matte. Everything I saw tonight was too blingy for me! I added a better pic, too.

Gold is hard, I love it but there can be a fine line between pretty and gaudy!!

Love this dress- so pretty!
I would go with a closed toe shoe in black or gold do that you can wear hose, and bracelets, cocktail rings and/or earrings. This neckline doesn't need a necklace.

The dress is so pretty on you. I'd go with a classic pump with a medium to kitten heel in brown, gold or bronze metallic or bright red or pink or something else unexpected. You don't need a necklace, but earrings could be festive.

I would eschew all jewellery but a big cuff - already a lot going on up near your face, with the embroidery, so no need to add earrings or cover parts with a necklace. You'll look spectacular!

It is hard to see in the photos so for a change of pace, I might suggest a wider black belt maybe velvet.

Fantastic little dress and you wear it very well.
First accessory: a matching bra (this could prove to be more lengthy or more expensive than it seems, but non-negotiable).

Shoes: If it were me, I'd wear it with ballerinas. This dress screams flat footwear as it compliments your beautiful figure so well. But the logical choice is pumps (closed toes, I agree).

Jewelry: go for arm candy for sure. And earrings: something gold, something that catches the light.

Pumps would work great. Simple so as not to take away from the dress. Black or burgundy would look good. Gold cuff and earrings. Maybe a cocktail ring. The gold clutch sounds great.

Gorgeous! I vote hair up and dangly gold and pearl earrings. I share your inclination toward a strappy sandal with heel. I think black or color-matched to the dress would be fabulous, with or without hose. Yes on the gold clutch.
