Need eyeglass frame help - YouLookFab Forum

Would any of you care to help me? I need new eyeglass frames and am looking at a few pairs from Zenni.

They offer digital try-ons, but I don't know how accurate those are.

Any ideas? I'm leaning toward the Thick or Moderate sortie cat eye frames. I have also considered getting a more round shape, but something about the cat eye draws me in. I have a diamond face shape, and I think a cat-eye is pretty flattering.

Can't help without a try on, but you look gorgeous in your selfie! I am thinking cat eye and tortoise shell. Oh wait that is all your picks (I really wrote that without reading your post!) - ok so I say the moderate one to start.

Hmm yeah it's tricky to know without trying it on. If you're going to upload a photo for a virtual try-on, make sure it's not a selfie (it distorts the face angles). The colours look great though, lol!

When I had my personal style consultation, I was told that glasses are the one place where going slightly opposite is OK since it's on your face (I 'should' stick to round shapes in my clothing (suspected Romantic/ Soft Classic Kibbe Type), but slightly squared frames balance that out).

The other thing to consider is your facial features:
~ You 'should' be able to pull off the cat eye look since you have curved & arched brows (whereas mine are straight across, so it interferes).
~ Similarly I need thinner frames, because otherwise my features get overwhelmed by the thick hipster look, but I think you have enough 'presence' to pull off moderate widths (you're 5ft7+ tall right?)
~ I think your face shape is similar to mine in that it's slightly long too right? In that case, I find glasses that take up some vertical space to be more flattering, since I have a longer midface (middle portion of my face). Whereas people with proportionally bigger foreheads or chin areas may prefer 'wider' frames (that take up more room horizontally across the face).

I vote moderate. Thick may wear you IYKWIM - will notice the glasses more than your beautiful face.

Agree with Star. I’m against the thick ones for you. Your face is so striking we want to notice it not the glasses. I lean towards the thin or moderate tortoiseshell?

Moderate looks great! Love cat eye glasses! I vote moderate. Both the thick and thin tortoiseshell are a maybe, but hard to tell.

I would stay away from the thick red ones. I was once on a plane boarding queue where a pair of thick electric blue glasses were wearing a lady. Not good.

It looks like the shape would look great on you, but I am no expert on face shapes vs frame shapes.

Ket, Zennioptical has terrible quality, in my last experience with the brand. Unless the quality has improved, and you're willing to take a gamble.....

My suggestion is to head to Warby Parker!

Angie, such a bummer to hear about the quality issues! I wear glasses so infrequently (1-2 days a month), I feel up for the gamble. But keeping this in mind for more serious frame purchases!

If you can wear the red pair , get it . I just knew when the eye glasses were right. I have a small face do shop in the children's area. There is more diversity in that area. At least in this area. I find that most adult eye glasses are black or dark grey.

Joy, ooo! good point about the red pair! I usually need medium to even large size frames. (Smaller head but broad/large face.)

Suz, such a good point bout the frames on! I might have to do the virtual try on?? Or get a couple pairs. Zenni is quite good about returns from what I've seen and heard. Even though it feels rather wasteful to order frames with lenses, only to return them. I am still waffling between cat eye and round shapes tbh. I do like cat eye, and yet... my face has so many angles, sometimes I feel a large, round shape is better. Juxtaposition...again.
