Should I keep or return?
I purchased this cacoon coat 2 months ago. It is a teddy bear navy from Lucky brand. I haven’t yet worn it because it is not warm enough here with our brutal winter. I can still return it but only by today.
Pros- fun and on trend. Reminds me of a coat a made years ago which I loved.
Cons - 2 months in and tags still on. Trendy teddy fabric doesn’t have lasting power.

My motto (at least aspirationally!) Is, of it's not a heck yes, it's a no. I would take your indecision as your intuition speaking to you ... Hope that's not too kill-joy

Return.
Then regret.
Then remember why you returned: it stayed in your closet for 2 months. Even with our brutal winters, there could have been days... you'll find an even better one next season.

Another vote for Return. You haven't loved it enough to find a way to wear it in 2 months. You will find something you like better. Next.

Is it something you will wear to pieces in the spring and fall ?
Try styling it with outfits for warmer weather. If it doesn’t make you feel great then return.

I too am in the return camp. It is the problem with buying out of season, you can’t tell if you aren’t reaching for it because of the weather or because it just isn’t right somehow. But two months is usually a sign of the latter.

so....was it the right temperature to wear this coat in November when you bought it? and when will it be the right temperature to wear it again?

if it was the right temperature when you bought it and you didn't wear it, that's your answer....

Its such a fun coat. Cozy classic. I can see why it appealed buti vote return.

Are you looking forward to wearing it when the temps are right? Will the temps ever be right? If not, then I would return it.

If you’re in a climate where it’s more of a spring/fall weight, I’d consider keeping. I think the color makes it a bit less trendy than a beige. Unless you’d rather have the money back in your clothing budget to use for something else. Probably budget would be my deciding factor.

I'm with Sarah and Kkards. You can't really judge it by how many times you've worn it if the weather isn't right. The connection to another coat you loved suggests to me that you might wear it.

Can you do the dastardly return & rebuy, so you have a chance to consider it when the weather is right?

Is the length right? Often teddy coats are awkward thigh-length.

When the weather is finally right for it, you won't want to wear it due to the bulk--everyone else will be in thinner coats. Return.

Thanks to everyone for your help on this. I really needed your support and you were very generous! I am not sure why it was such a struggle. Years ago (many many) I used to make most of my own clothing. I had made a navy wool cacoon coat so similar to this one and I think I was smitten with crazy nostalgia.

I did return this and am happy that I did. It is too light for our frigid temps and quite right that by the time I can wear it it will be awkward and too warm.

I would most definitely say after 2 months i myself, probably would've brought it back to the store

Ok, glad you returned.
My first thought was that the other teddy coats I’ve seen have been brighter or lighter in color, or animal prints. Something that adds fun or light to a wardrobe. Would that have made a difference or is it just the wrong weight? Perhaps worth considering.
