So last week I went downtown to pick up a pair of shoes that I'd had re-soled, and as I'm walking back to my car something SPLASHES ON MY HEAD. My first thought is bird poop, but no, it's way too much. I look at my arm, which is dripping. Urine? Did someone toss the contents of a chamber pot out the window? Is this 19th-century London? No? I tentatively sniff my arm. It's foul. I look down at my handbag. There are small chunks. I look up at the derelict apartments above street level. O-K, I think. Someone has clearly VOMITED out the window and I have had the unbelievable misfortune to be in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time.

So the upshot is, my clothes and hair have recovered, after having been washed three times....but I tossed my handbag. It was getting old anyway. Does anybody have a suggestion as to where I might find a dark brown or black leather bag with metal hardware? That's my usual preference. My last bag was Roots, but I'm curious to know if there are other brands I might try. I'm not much of a bag lady, and I'm not looking to spend more than a $250. Any suggestions are appreciated!
