a business casual office party. My office is going to a somewhat trendy/upscale (from what I can gather) restaurant for our holiday party & I'm told the dress is 'business casual'. I hate that term. Anyway, I can probably afford to buy one new piece, but I need a formula for what to wear! I was thinking black dress pants/pencil skirt, shiny blouse & a cardigan? Maybe same bottoms and an embellished cardi & a tank underneath? Unfortunately I don't currently have fab jeans, but I have OK black dress pants & a well fitting black pencil skirt. I also have a nice v-neck sweater that is black, charcoal & bronze threads knitted together. From far away it looks black with a little sparkle. But I always worry about wearing it with black pants because it's so much black when I do.

What would you wear to a business casual office party?
