Well . For the first time in my 4 (?) years here , I am thinking ahead to NAS. I’ve labelled you all as crazy in past years , but after a full year of ordering from Nordstrom , I now feel excited about a sale . I’m looking for denim , blazers , silk tanks /camis , boots and underwear . And perhaps a faux fur pink coat .

Those silk pillow cases I've looked at and not bought for two years in a row. This is the year.

Major undies stock up.

Anything else will have to be true love because I'm actually well stocked for Fall and Winter. Hold me to it!

I have only ordered once from the NAS. It has to be worth it for me. I usually am a B & M shopper. But....

So many great colors in the catalog. My list-

Wool coat in red or medium blue
Pants in gold, light olive and/or red
Refresh bras and panties
Slippers
Gear shorts
And a wild card!

I also typically refresh DH’s casual pants, and take a quick look at the offerings for my two DSs.

Well see. I have some un-fun financial priorities in July, and am just not wanting to think about cold weather dressing till I actually need to. Then all the fun velvet and lace holiday stuff is out

But I do want/need:
Gear leggings, bike shorts w pockets
Pants: burgundy, ponte, jeans, flowy
Warm long coat-will buy later in season
Tall heeled brown boots-hewi
Formal work dresses for cold weather
I'd love a teal boot, coat complement-but this will probably not be the year for that!

My list is structured and specific, but very loose and open to change:

A SUBSTITUTE for blue jeans in Winter (I don't wear leggings and leggings). Fun woolly pants that keep me warm and aren't skinnies.
FULL LENGTH pants & jeans
Red or Turquoise coat. Won't say no to a patterned coat, or another fun colour
Always in the mood for fabulous midi skirts and dresses!
Always in the mood for pretty shoes that work for my feet and lifestyle
White or cream flat boots (I keep on wearing mine into the ground)
Jacket in a HEAVY weight that's like a short coat, or a refined streamlined jacket that fits under my coats
Cashmere wrap in a yummy colour I don't already have

My list of what I am NOT ALLOWED TO BUY, which I have to be strict about:

pricey knitwear, and cheap cashmere knitwear
wardrobe basics
makeup
gear
jewellery
blouses and knit tops
anything grey or black
basic boots
cognac footwear
oxfords

And the jury is out on whether I'm allowed to add another wardrobe pet

Add to the underwear, some new earrings. I wear earrings every single day. I haven't added to my collection in years. There have been some beautiful earrings featured in my Nordstrom store. I would certainly consider them if they were on sale.

Knit tops. Certainly.
Black slacks? Of course.

I've had good luck with NAS in the past even though my orders have been small. This year I will definitely look at jeans, cardigans, layering tops, sneakers, oxfords, and underwear.

I'm keeping my eyes open for:

An excellent quality, wonderful trench or pea or military style coat, classic, and navy, probably, but I'm somewhat flexible on that. Just not black or beige.

A good quality casual waterproof coat.

Some kind of winter outerwear to wear with midis!!

The right bag. What *is* the right bag, you ask? I don't know.

A waterproof chelsea type boot/ bootie or moto boot, for casual wear.

Warm non-denim trousers. See Angie's note.

I am interested in and would like a closer look at:

Plaid blazer (or other plaid items).
COLOUR!
Casual, warm midi skirt or dress.

I will purchase my usual basics (undies and socks).

What I don't want/ need:

Leather jackets.
Puffer coats (except maybe super lightweight midi length one like Janet's to wear with midis?)
Knee high boots.
Gear.
Fancy dresses/ skirts.
Impractical footwear.
Most knitwear...unless of course the knitwear turns out to be the highlight of the sale.

Warm non-denim trousers to wear in the winter sound like an excellent idea. I will add those to my list. We may be in Montreal for the winter. Brrrrr.

Is it only me, or does anyone feel like it’s way too early to think about this? Maybe when the catalog arrives I’ll feel differently, but we’re just getting into hot weather time, and I have no desire to think about knitwear and jackets. Feel free to call me out if the catalog sways me.

I would really like to add a brown or mustard cardigan. This year I have added mostly items from Boden so I will look and see what they have.

I have very mixed luck with buying items from NAS. It often turns out that once the season rolls around for the items, 3+ months later, I don't reach for them. I think I could look out for a few exceptions though:

-New winter coat in a bright color, which is my top wishlist item for the next 6 months. I will be very picky about this and plan to try Talbots or J Crew if I don't get one at NAS. It will be hard to think about this so I don't mind if I strike out.

-I had great luck with Born boots from last year's NAS do I'd look at that brand again

-Jewelry - especially Kendra Scott

-Maybe some undies

You're either into it or not. I shop the new season very early so for me, the NAS is perfectly timed.

Suz, HOPE we find the bottoms and outerwear we want since we're after similar things.

For me, all it takes is a couple days of 90+ temperatures (over 33C), to start wishing for cooler weather. I wasn't quite ready to think about fall clothes last week, but after this coming week, I will be. I love WIW posts from everyone in the southern hemisphere at this time of year. And paging through the NAS catalog.

I was still wearing my winter clothes last week so yes to not being ready.

I’ve had the best luck with accessories or designer wear and outerwear. If Canada goose goes on sale, I’m soooo there.

I might need to think about replacing my beloved Soia & Kyo black puffer, which I have worn to bits in these Minnesota winters. I want a puffer in a shade of brown or maybe navy. Ditto on replacing my beloved black Aquatalia riding boots.

This year's catalog looked good! Most years I never buy anything I've seen in the catalog, but I'm already enamored with these Kate Spade earrings and purple paisley dress (no brainer). Plus loving this snakeskin Blank NYC moto. Adding all these to my wish list!

My note to myself after last year's NAS is to remember that I am always very busy in July and the last thing I want to do is spend time trying on clothing - especially warm clothing! I also have no desire to take stock of my winter clothing at that time of year. So off the top of my head I'd be willing to shop for:
*full length jeans - non skinny
*underwear
*waterproof boots
*colorful sweaters but not overly expensive as I've been disappointed with expensive knitwear in the past.

*NF jackets for my kids

*skin care

*MAYBE something unexpected!

I am likely skipping NAS this year as, with any luck, it will be happening during our move, but I am keen to see what will be out there in terms of long cardigans. I’d like to add at least one more to my wardrobe for fall/winter.

I need 2-3 bras and will likely get at least one Natori Feathers and a Chantelle one if they have a style I like.

I don’t need anything, except the bras, so will be picky and will also be open to trying new things.

My fall/winter wish list is below ... I’ll check out NAS for these items but I struggle with it being months before I need these, which is likely into November for most items. I am appreciating the flare jeans and hope they come in Petite. They could work for a conference trip to the Netherlands in late August.

Wish list:
- refined/dressy outerwear, hip to knee length, looking for both a navy jacket and something colorful
- flare and boot cut dark wash jeans or dress pants
- sweater dress
- long cardigan, preferably a waterfall or asymmetrical style
- tall boots in navy, chocolate, burgundy or cognac (as a petite with athletic calves these are hard to fit and often look like flower pots)
- dressy low-heeled booties, navy, cognac or burgundy
- moto-style jacket
