Oh, Frances, my list is way long, too, so we can definitely help each other be reasonable! It sounds like we'll be perfect bag-shopping buddies, since I am also hoping to get a briefcase-type tote for work. I'm excited to hear about your Ecco Hanna Button toe pumps, as I am eying those for my fall wardrobe.
It was ridiculously difficult for me to actually make a plan and a list, but thankfully I did (this will be the first time I have ever shopped with an actual plan). I found it really useful in quantifying where I really need to focus my $$ for this fall. It turns out that what I think I need to do is really concentrate on building up an appropriate work wardrobe, since I will be transitioning from being a student into working in a (casual and semi-artsy) office full time.
Here's my list:
1) Shoes and boots. I'd like to get a few pairs of 2.5" heels for work, and maybe a pair of boots and a pair of booties (hoping they have the classiques peep-toe booties in my size). I'm willing to put a large chunk of my budget into the shoe department.
2). Leather briefcase/tote style work bag, preferably in a versatile color (black, wine, ?)
3). Tops, pants, and skirts. 1-2 of each. I know it sounds like a lot, but I am going into this with almost nothing, and I do have to look professional at work.
4). Jackets/sweater/cardis. I have a few things I'd like, but I really need to come away with a black jacket (I like the looks of the Halogen moto) and a black/grey cardi. If the Classiques lamb jacket were to fit me perfectly, it could easily steal my heart.
5). Statement piece. I would love to find something perfect that really speaks to me and makes me feel great when I wear it. If I'm going to spend money on a statement piece, it needs to be durable, and to continue fitting me as my size changes a bit, so this will probably be a jacket of some kind, like the previously-mentioned lamb jacket, or the Makali plaid rosette jacket has caught my eye. I might need to be talked out of the plaid jacket, in which case I will rely on Frances and Rosie to set me straight.
6). Accessories. Sort of boring, but I have a list of basics like tights and camis to pick up.
Sveta, I hope you'll post a report on your trip into the U.S. for the sale--it would be really interesting to hear what your first Nordstrom visit is like.
