NAS: What items are you craving (or taking home?)

After browsing through the catalogue, I have my eye on a couple lovelies to try out during the pre-sale. (My sister, mom, and I are going together on the 14th for clothing/intimates, and I might tag along on my sister's shoe pre-sale appointment tomorrow night. Can't wait!)

Of course, the item that most sets my heart aflame is also the furthest out of my budget: that beautiful Lafayette 148 New York Lambskin Leather Jacket (the *sale* price is $498.90; after the sale it retails at $748. Eeep! Needless to say, it's not coming home with me, but holy cow it is lovely.

I love the fresh yellow color of the Halogen seamed pencil skirt, and the Purple Magenta shade is gorgeous, too. How silly would it be to "triplicate" this skirt, since I own it in both gray and chartreuse already? I wear at least one of my two pairs on a weekly basis, so I could in good faith justify the cost-per-wear of a color that is very different. I have one yellow skirt from Boden, but I don't like it - it's a very thin knit, unlined, and too short - even though the color rocks.
Please talk me in or talk me out of it, folks.

The Halogen Back Button Drape Sweater is quite alluring, too. I'm curious about the Halogen Peplum Sweater Jacket, but the low single-button stance does not seem like it would be good on my frame.

I'm very excited to see that my favorite Chantelle "Rive Gauche" bra is once again part of the sale. Since it normally retails at $88(!), the sale price of $58.90 means that I pretty much HAVE to buy one pair. For those of you on the large-cup size, small-band size spectrum, I highly recommend giving it a bash - it's a fantastic bra.

I'm not seeing a lot in the shoe department that really turns me on - and frankly, the only shoes I could see myself adding would be boots, unless an especially amazing pair of pumps are part of the sale. However, we are still trying to find a pair of affordable dress shoes for my boyfriend, so I hope he will let me bring him along after the sale begins. (I'll probably make a separate post about his shoe woes.)

So... for those of you who are browsing or will be shopping during NAS, what are you interested in?

I have an appointment tomorrow and just went through and made a list of things to check: some Pleone sheer shirts, the Trouve shrunken blazer and open stitch sweater, a Michael Kors trench, the Hinge smocked silk blouse in a lively print, Halogen back button sweater (same as you), two Classiques Ent. jackets, and my stretch item is the Classiques Ent. Lamb Moss leather jacket. I doubt it will fit me anywhere near well enough to tempt me --thank goodness

I can't even put my finger on what *type* of items would bring a fresh, new feel to my fall/winter clothes, so I'm hoping for my shopper to point me in a good direction. . . poor girl!

Oooh, good luck! I hope that you receive some help from your shopper. My sister and I liked the shopper we were assigned last year - she was a very sweet and helpful college intern, and we found out she had actually gone to high school with my sister for a year or so.

I am hoping items I crave will be around after the pre-select, which is when I can shop as a non card holder ...hubby won't allow it, *sobbing* .... I'm already stressed nothing I want will be around. There's a pair of Cole Haan boots and Attilio Giusti Leombruni flats I really, really want. And I'd love to try one of these big volume tops/capes I see if I knew which style to try.

I'm also after some of the Halogen seamed skirts and the coordinating merino cardis (altho not in coordinating colors) as well as the Halogen back button sweater and the Pleone shirts. I also want more booties in either grey or brown and have my eye on a couple of pair. I have a Nordies card, but probably won't be able to make the time to pre-select, so I'll just hope that they have what I want when the sale officially opens. And I'm hoping that Angie will find some fun things I've overlooked!

I always get shoes for the kids, too, since the prices are good.

ETA: I just read giddyup's comment that you can order by phone this year, so I'll be doing that - in multiple sizes!

Granted, I am in a pretty typical size range (between 8-12 in dresses) and don't shop designer items, but my first year at NAS (2009) I did not do pre-select and the stores I went to had plenty of items in stock that I wanted to try out. Also, last year I returned after the pre-sale to pick up some additional items and didn't have a problem with selection. So don't despair if you can't do the pre-select!

Oh, Kari, I too am lusting after the Lafayette leather jacket, and the magenta skirt did catch my eye. There are quite a few items on my "want to try" list, but I will bring home only a few select pieces that are truly exceptional. Dresses, blouses, a bag and several leather jackets are all possibilities.

Oh yes, bags! I was quite taken by the Oryany satchel on page 25, but I've never been happy carrying a brown bag. . . so I found it on Bluefly in tan. It looks like this and I hope I like it:

I am going to focus on boots this year as my collection is quite small. I have not decided which ones and I hope there is more there than what I can see in the catalogue.
Halogen seamed skirt in yellow or magenta (cannot decide yet) is on my list as well: I have bought a grey one last year and was pretty happy with it. I would like to try on Trouve oxfords if they have them in my size (fingers crossed): I have been dying to try the flat oxfords but have not been able to find them in the stores in my size yet...
Halogen Back Button Drape Sweater look pretty nice and LONG so I need to try it on too.
I would not say no to a nice and interesting jacket.Halogen peplum sweater jacket looks quite attractive too as well as Trouve Shrunken blazer... Currently have 5 non-denim blazers so I am going to add one only if it is quite different in style or color from what I have now.
I will skip leather jackets: our Danier had amazing styles, good quality leather and big sales during the year.
I will also look for pants/jeans as this is the hardest clothing item for me to fit so I would use the SA to help me. I did not see anything in the catalogue long enough but hope they have better selection on the floor.
I am also looking for a knee-length wool coat to wear with dresses and skirts, something I can wear between trench weather and puffer weather. I have not seen anything in the catalogue though so my hope is slim.
I will try capes on just for fun but I think I will skip this style - for the same reason Laura stated on another thread: our winters are too cold for this style. I had a cape before and struggled to wear it more that 2 times a season.

That bra is on my list, too! I have it in blush and I love it. I'm thinking of getting the "milk" color if room is left in the 'ol budg.

My big ticket item may be that Brahmin satchel. A co-worker has an old Brahmin wallet and it wears beautifully.

I had my eye on the skirt as well, but the bag is pricey, so I might have to give it up...
And, I am thinking trying on a cape or two as well....even though I don't need another winter coat-type-item...(-:

The only shoes I'm interested in are the SW kitten heel tortoise patent pumps (too pricy, plus I'm swearing off patent since it always gives me blisters!) and the Indigo by Clarks Water Row bootie...probably in grey although the brown is beautiful. Grey would fit into my wardrobe better.

Kyle, I'm trying to keep that mantra in mind, too - I don't want to bring items into my wardrobe that are not quite perfect.

MnSara, I much prefer tan to brown bags too. Love the color of the one you chose!

Sveta, you already have some fantastic leather jackets, so I understand not needing to bring that in. I hope that you are able to score with some fantastic boots and a wool coat. A few years ago I picked out a forest green knee length wool coat from Banana Republic for a birthday present (my mom had wanted to get one for me), and I wear it all the time in that "in between" weather in the fall and winter.

Oooh, Jenava, that satchel is divine.
I have that bra in nude and in hot pink, and was thinking that the Fig color would be nice.

Kari I am going back and forth about another seamed skirt also. I have the chalet green, light silver and fever pink but the magenta is a gorgeous color. I think I might try the Halogen back button sweater and the Pieione tie front in petite (the multi. color)
I need a pair of black slacks and suggestions.

Kari, I agree about the Chantelle bra - fantastic bra at a great price. I'm in, too.

You definitely should get another pencil skirt, take it home and play with it in your wardrobe. You wear pencil skirts so well! Also, don't forget cardigans - if you like the idea of the Halogen button-back sweater, try turning a traditional cardigan around backward and buttoning it up the back. I wear cardis like that all the time. It appeals to my backwards personality

I can see you in a pair of the Melissa button boots, Kari - what did you think of those? Or, how about the Jane strappy boot, or that Vince Camuto tall boot in brandy (to match your hair)?

I have nothing for fall/winter in my current size so this could be dangerous. I do want at least one of the Halogen skirts - probably the yellow and black (my Rack has the light purple right now in every size except mine! grr) I really wanted the brown Skagen watch in the catalog until I saw the MIchal Kors tortoise shell one online. Bras for sure and maybe some panties. Tights - Nordstrom heathered and Spanx two timin. A few Boden tops for the kids and socks. The rest are pretty would likes if I were to win the lottery in the next few days, but these are my musts.

Renee, it sounds like we are interested in a lot of the same items. I hope that they are as fabulous in person as they look in the catalogue!

Laura, if any of those boots come in wide widths and fit my calves, I will be thrilled! In past NAS events I haven't had much luck in finding boots that fit. Still holding out hope, though.

Jjsloane, if you need to stock up on your size, that sounds like a wonderful list. Good luck, and I hope that everything ends up working out well on you!

@kari--I will be shopping with the general public on 7/15 and interested in the Halogen skirt and sweater blazer. If you try them on during the preview, will you give a fit and quality report? The new bright colors are beautiful.

Khris - they have some super cute oxford booties by Steve Madden in dark beige and in cognac. I can see them with tights as well as under pants/jeans. . .

Briar, I tried on the skirts and will be modeling them at some point. They are just like the ones from last year (I know there are rave reviews from last year on here) and the colors are warm, saturated and vibrant except the grey which is a very neutral grey to my eye. They didn't have the purple in petite at my store, but they did have the magenta and yellow.

Kari, you shouldn't hesitate to add to your Halogen seamed pencil skirt collection as you wear them alot, and the purple magenta will seem like a different skirt from your othrs.
I'm hoping to find the dark amethyst in my size. Did you see it? I'm hoping to try some of the sweater jackets they have on-line. I like the idea of the structure of a jacket in a knit to replace regular cardigans. I'm also hoping for grey booties and maybe a grey leather jacket. The jacket especially is more of a want than a need and will have to be outstanding to come home with me.

Kari, GET THE YELLOW SEAMED PENCIL SKIRT. it would look fantastic with your navys, oranges, all kinds of items you already have.

If I was smaller I would get it in a heartbeat. After gasping in delight when I saw it in the catalog, I pondered either a) starving myself until I could wear it, or b) buying it in hopes I lose the weight before the fall. Neither is a practical or healthy possibility, so instead I will enjoy it vicariously through others, like I do Texas Sarah in the dusty olive shade.

Kristen, I'd think that they would have the skirt available in plus sizes too - didn't they last year? (The catalogue doesn't show any Encore items but I'm sure they have them included in the same - at least I'd hope so!)

Nope, they have yet to make that skirt for plus-sizes. Their skirt selection for plus is really weak all year long. I've about given up on that. Alas!
