NAS Tops: Purchases and questions

I seem to have the most trouble keeping a good small collection of work-friendly tops that I love. I think this is where JCrew fails me -- the colors / prints / styles of their tops don't really speak to me.

Ideally, tops would go with black, navy (pinstripe), and potentially gray bottoms, and also be good with jeans (blue, charcoal, burgundy). Could be worn with / without jacket.

I ordered the two sleeveless tops below although I have concerns about both. I love the classic style of the DVF but will it look maternity? Or will the silk fabrication give it a nice drape? I love the tones of the Leith but is it too short/cropped?

I'm also thinking about the striped.

Have you seen any of these in the store? Have any thoughts?

Hope you had a great weekend! I haven't seen any of these in store, but I love all of them. The DVF looks as if it is sheer in one of the pictures, I think the side view, and there is no way it looks maternity. The Leith may be a bit too short but I think it's worth a try. And the striped shirt is a no brainer for you.

I saw the plaid vest you ordered in store, it looks great in person. I hope it works for you.

I have also not seen these (alas; being Canadian) but I adore that DVF one and think it does not look maternity at all.

I like the Leith but I would be careful with it. I have some cropped tops but I have to be careful to always wear them with high waisted pants and to wear a camisole underneath, which may limit wearability for you. It may sound too conservative, but you'll be surprised how much of your torso is on display when you raise your arms! And given your line of work - you don't want to flash the focus group participants when you reach up to show them a board or piece of stimuli

I saw the DVF in-store, not in the stripe but in the other print. It's a nice silk and I think the drape would be good. I don't think it would look maternity, but I'd imagine it depends on the size of your bust, since it will fall from there.

Oh, Roxanna, so true! I think the Leith will likely not work.

Colette and Jules, I hope you are right about the DVF. Jules, I'm very small busted so I hunk that should help.

Obviously I haven't seen any of these in person, but I think that striped long sleeve shirt has real potential . Imagine it worn with navy or jeans and the new boots you ordered. Leather jacket over top ?
