NAS: the try ons - YouLookFab Forum

So my boxes came when I was out of town. Yesterday after work I finally got to un box them and do a 1st try on. 1st try on I only had a tee shirt on (pictures with sneakers) so I tried again this morning with a heavy sweatshirt (ponytail & sandals)

1st up—-my wild card. Red faux leather! This one surprised me. I was hoping to like it, instead I love it. It’s soft and less fake looking than I was expecting. And the red is vibrant & rich looking color. And I love the way it fits. Keep unless someone sees something I’m missing

#2 puffer…this fits, and as described it’s a slim fit. Wondering if I should try the size up. It’s warm, and toasty. And the length is fab. Leaning to keep

#3 burgundy double faced wool coat. This is a beautifully made garment. It’s soft fabric and the finishing details are well done. The color is sort of a plumy burgundy, more of a purple vs red. That being said, I’m not sure on the fit. With just a tee shirt it feels big. With a sweatshirt it feels roomy. I’d really love to hear feedback-& did anyone else try this?

#4 cargos. Fun and trendy. This a probably a keep as well. Need to decide on the length

The red coat is a winner, definitely - except I'm not keen on the skinny tie belt. It looks out of whack with the rest of the details.

I also love the burgundy coat, but do try a size down. The shoulders don't sit where they should. The puffer looks just right, but it's all about the feel of the shoulders for me. Do they feel like they "catch" when you move your arms?

The pants are perfect.

I'm 100% with Roberta. I really like the red coat -- but those ties seem kind of weird to me. Does it work unbelted? Can you trade the belt for something else?

The cargos, are, of course, brilliant on you. There is NO pant that is not your friend.

That puffer is meant to fit slim. It's sort of a classic or even iconic cut for them and suits the Quebec market. When you have to wear puffers for so much of the year, you want at least one of them to show your feminine shape a little bit! My own big puffer is not Soia & Kyo but is also a Quebec company and it fits similarly. Can you move around as you wish? Did you try it with the kind of thing you will actually wear under it? It looks really nice on you, but it's all in how and when you are going to use it.

I love the burgundy coat. It is meant to be a bit oversized, with a drop shoulder, or fitted and tailored? I wonder if a size down might not be snug through the middle. It's a gorgeous colour -- wow.

You've done really well so far even if you only keep two of these!

The red faux leather coat is stunning on you. Yes, keep! Cargos, too! Wow! I like the idea of keeping them long enough to have a break in front over the shoe.

The other coats are also great. I like the fit of both of them. I'm taking Suz's comment to heart on the Soia and Kyo, and I fear you might be overwhelmed by a larger size. But sometimes you just want to compare, to know for sure, so it might be worth ordering.

I think the plum coat fits beautifully as it is. It looks like an unstructured style, so it might be a little outside your style for that reason. The size down might not have the right ease for this style. Again, though, comparison can be very worthwhile.

YES to what Suz said about my puffer - it is suppose to be quite fitted. That said, what are you wearing underneath? It must work with the layers you like to wear in Winter.

The burgundy coat is the right size. I know the coat! It has a bit of a dropped shoulder and a slight cocoon silhouette. Sleeves need shortening though, and try it with a sweater!

I LOVE the red trench on you! I do see what Roberta means with the ties. You could tie it at the back so you don't see the tie in front. I don't mind the front tie actually, if it's tied neatly

Re the red coat, I actually kinda like the slim belt just because it’s a smidge different, but I can definitely try tying it in the back & experimenting w a different belt
I have tried both the puffer & the burgundy overcoat with a thicker sweatshirt but will try again with a thicker sweater. And I’ll try to wear the puffet long enough to move at in, hard when it’s 85f, lol.

I love everything but the burgundy coat. That looks big to me. But Angie has spoken, and she’s the fit expert, NOT me. The color feels a bit more muted than I would prefer on you.

I quite love the burgundy coat! I think it is meant to be a little slouchy but it is still nice and slim in the hips - very flattering I think. Love the leather too.

The NAS is not my thing and I don't get excited about it but it sure is yours. Your selections are wonderfully "you", in my opinion, How about the red trench beltless? Nice smooth line.

Without reading other responses - I love it all , with the exception of the puffer. That red coat was made for you , the cargoes look far better on you than in the stock photo and the burgundy coat does not look too big at all . The puffer looks so bulky around the neck and shoulder area because of the big collar and insert , but I know that’s the design . And that’s just own aversion to bulk and stiff necks / collars in coats .

I like the puffer - to me it is a quality classic type piece - it's not the trendy boxier style but I do like it.

I am not sure on the burgundy coat - it does look to be a great coat but is it the right addition.

Since there are three coats I would take a look at your whole coat collection to see what the gaps are - and where they sit.

But still get the first coat:)

Love everything except the burgundy coat ( it's not the fit - it's more not the favorite shape - might be just me ). The red trench is fabulous on you - fav piece!

2nd, those cargo pants were made for you, it's beautiful on you.
I love the red faux leather, such a beautiful red. I also like the puffer if you're comfortable moving your arms in them.
I'm not sure if I like the shape of the burgundy wool coat, but if you feel fab in it then enjoy wearing it.

Like all except the burgundy coat. I have that feeling about it that it “doesn’t do anything for you”? Maybe it’s not your best colour? The red coat suits you so much better…

Love it all! Red coat is a showstopper. Spectacular. That said, my general rule with NAS is to send back anything I don’t love. Personally, I think the fit of the other two coats is superb, though quite different, but if you’re uncertain or would feel awkward wearing them, back they go.

I'm with Kellygirl - the red coat and cargos are my favourite items. I don't like the colour of the burgundy coat, it looks a bit dull and the oversized fit does not appeal to me. Now that red coat - that has the wow factor and so if I was choosing what to wear, it would be the red coat everytime!
