I went to the NAS for a second time today and I ended up buying just one item, the Steve Madden Faux Leather Bomber Jacket. I wanted to mention it here because I know there are other YLFers who don't, or prefer not to, purchase leather. At $50, it's also good for anyone who wants a cute, inexpensive jacket.
The jacket has subtle ruching throughout, and oddly enough, I thought it did a really good job of minimizing my bust area. I wasn't expecting that, but it was a pleasant surprise. The thing is, I am guessing the ruching is probably flattering for the small-chested among us as well. The material feels very leather-like to me, and the jacket fit the one hole in my wardrobe--a casual jacket that looks cute at a sporting event with a cap on my head.
I definitely recommend trying this. I got it in the ivory (didn't see the teal in the store): http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/30.....rchresults
The other item I almost bought was Classiques Entier's Boiled Wool Jacket. The jacket fit well and the color (the curry tonal, a mustard-y color) was different and flattering. The boiled wool, however, was very itchy on my sensitive skin, and I do have another jacket of a similar style and fabric. I actually took it all the way to the checkout counter, and then decided against it. For anyone thinking of ordering it online, the French Heather Grey color is not actually a traditional grey at all. It's very much a light brown, heathered with some brownish-grey.
One thing at the sale that made me happy was seeing so many dresses with elbow length sleeves. I tried on several and didn't love any on me, but I'm hoping this means the fall lines might have more sleeves this year. I feel like all the dresses I see every fall and winter are sleeveless, when elbow length sleeves can be so much more practical for the cooler weather (and I don't love my upper arms so much that I need to show them four seasons a year).
