Hi all,

I've got my eye on a coat from the very limited NAS catalogue, and I confess I am starting to get the NAS itch. It probably does not help that we have had fall-like weather for the last three days -- cold and rainy! So weird for July.

So.....

When does Angie post her picks?
Is anyone else planning to check out the full presale offerings on Thursday?
Did anyone else see anything in the little catalog that looked worth trying?

I'm not sure why NAS excites me so much because 1) I live in a warm climate 2) I returned most of what I bought last year and 3) the quality of what I kept wasn't all great. The catalog didn't get me too excited, but I do like looking at the online selection when it goes live.

I just found it fun to peruse the lists of picks and what forum members chose. Other bloggers all seemed to pick the same 10 things. Angie picked higher quality and it was actually based on fabrication and fit. Imagine. Plus, seeing things on others was enjoyable to me.

This year I plan to be strategic. Try to stick to the more quality brands. I've thought of my wardrobe holes and have a list. But since I'm not near a Nordstroms, I am allowing myself some leeway to try on what I may love but didn't know I needed. And return what doesn't work.

I'm experience a major shopping itch, but have vowed not to get caught up in the madness. I did last year, and like delurked, returned most of what I bought, and what I did keep, I certainly could have lived quite happily without.

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else finds, shares, and buys, and will use this info when looking around in stores come September.

Where' s your nearest store? Boston?

I agree with Delurked regarding Angie's picks being well-curated.

For example, there was an IRO jacket I bought and returned last year -- it was my own choice, but I saw a few bloggers feature it. Clearly they had never seen it in person, but rather just quickly skimmed over the photos online, because I do not think it could have looked good on anyone and the quality was bad, too. Angie did not feature it as one of her picks.

Lisa, my nearest store is Burlington MA, about an hour away and much easier to deal with (mall) than downtown Boston. But I really don't want to go to the store. My plan is just to order the coat I am so interested in and see what happens. There's nothing else I really am craving right now -- I had thought maybe a Smythe blazer but I am not likely to take advantage of that. I've got a lot of family stuff over the next week, and then two weeks of work travel before vacation, so I think I can keep myself out of the fray.

there actually isn't a Nordstrom in the city of Boston, or even in the closest ring of suburbs. If I do buy anything from NAS this year, it will definitely be online!

I had so much fun with last year's NAS that I've been looking forward to this one. But here's the problem...I don't need anything! I filled all holes last year and then it was so warm I didn't over-wear any of it. I could happily live on last year's wardrobe.

So...ridiculous question...what to buy when you don't need and just want? I will probably look for lightweight sweaters in some beautiful colors but beyond that, I just don't know. I should be wise like Lisa and sit it out.

C1, shopping online is the best idea because there is the largest assortment.

Peri, see how the weeks unfold and take it from there. No need to wrack your brains about it now. Take it in your stride and sit it out if that's best for your wardrobe right now.

Viva, I think the only thing from the catalog I plan on ordering right now is the Trina Turk Officer's Coat. I just don't know what size. Oh, maybe some jeans too. I have a pair of Paige Verdugo that I like so I may order another color.

Last year was my first NAS. I just got my catalogue today and there is a collar necklace (it's open in the front) that I'd like to try. (It may turn out to be one of my birthday presents!) Good luck with your coat viva!

I liked the Kate Spade hobo purse that was in the catalog and I might order that. I just got back from visiting a friend in New Jersey, and we went to the Cherry Hill Nordstrom, unfortunately not during sale time (but I did manage to buy something anyway!).

Collette, I am feeling the same way about sizes. I think I am going for the larger of two (4 and 6), to allow for sweaters and just in case the waist in cinch-y, but I'm not totally sure. What are you thinking?

I'm not familiar with the brand sizing so I'm debating about sizes too. I'd like to see a better picture to see how it's cut at the hips. But I think I'm going to start with the 4 unless it's cut very straight, then I'll go with the 6.

I usually make a few online purchases on the first day of the pre-sale (especially shoes which go fast in my size). Then I wait until Angie posts her picks and see if I need to add anything else. It's such a fun time on the forum!

Colette - have you been on the Nordstrom site to look at the catalogue online? There is a second photo of the Trina Turk coat (and other NAS items) which isn't shown on the paper version. You have to click on the picture to see the next photo and details.

I agree with delurked's comment about Angie's finds. I always look forward to reading those. I very excited about her recommendations for the NAS. I am not buying anything.

I really like the TT coat - but can't tell if it's navy or black. And , does anyone know anything about Veronica Beard blazer sizing? There is one calling my name.

Lisap, I think the TT coat is navy? Not sure. And that VB blazer - the one with the hoodie? Super cute. Would look great on you. I thought about it too....

Veronica Beard runs ever so slightly small IMO. I alternate between a 6 and an 8 in jackets and I had to go with an 8 in VB. I tried on one of those attached-hoodie styles a while back when I saw them at NM in store, and the fit was a little off for me -- can't remember the particular issue, it was probably too straight (the story of my life). However, that striped motto I got in NY is VB and fits great.

I want that coat too if it's navy. I think I'll check to see if Hudson Bay sells that label. And yes, the VB jacket with the hoodie. It's crazy expensive though . I noticed the R&B boots I have my eye on at a store here are offered at $350 or something - which is a heck of a lot less than what they are here. They took are crazy expensive, I think I have lost my mind. Why is everything in that catalogue catching my eye?
