NAS Question

I have read that many of forum members say the sneak peek catalog for NAS is just a small part of what is on sale. I plan to attend the opening day for card holders. My question is do I just have to wander from dept to dept looking for items I like, can wear? There is no way to know ahead of opening day what items I might want to seek out? I know Angie does a review recommendation list but as I recall that is not published till the first day. Seems like things sell out so fast but is it a smarter shopping move to wait for the 2nd day of the sale so I can look at Angie's list as well as the on line inventory once its on line? Thanks. I am hours away from a store so need to figure out best way to approach this big sale.

As a card holder, you can see all/most NAS items online w/ Early Access July 14. Happy shopping!

I live in Canada where, yes, we now have a few Nordstrom's stores, but very few, and the closest to me is 2.5 hours away. So I have always shopped online.

My on-line strategy is to look category by category. The days when I spent a lot on the sale are gone because our dollar is so low now relative to the US dollar. It has become very expensive for me; usually any markdown is eaten up in the exchange I'lll pay. So the items have to be truly unavailable to me here at retail or truly special for this to be worthwhile.

First I look to fill any HEWIs (Highly Elusive Wardrobe Items) and wardrobe holes. I also use the sale to keep my eye on the trends and decide which, if any, look like good bets for my personal style.

If there are items that really appeal to me but I'm unsure, I will ask opinions on the forum. People here may be familiar with the brand and they may already have seen the item in person. I have to act quickly because my size sells out really fast, so sometimes I just order and return rather than wait.

I might make a second selection after Angie makes her official picks of the sale. Sometimes even a third. I send back a high proportion of what I order, either immediately or a a bit later. The items I do keep end up as solid workhorses.

My lists come out on the official day of the sale - you are right. There is still plenty of stock ONLINE at that time. Also, those who preselect, discuss the items in a NAS section on this forum so you get a heads up on EVERYTHING. I chime in a lot too.

I do a first round of orders on the first day. My NAS return rate is about 50%. I'll usually do a second round after I make my 1st round decisions.

You can make an appointment with your local store, so you'll have a sales assistant assigned to you who can pull stuff for you and will presumably have a good knowledge of the items in each department. (You can browse on your own too). If you want an appointment on the first pre selection day, call soon because they tend to fill up quick.
