NAS Purchases Round Two-Dresses

Hi,

These were the dresses that came home with me.

#1-#3-Suzi Chin for Maggy Boutique Dress and Ralph Lauren Belt
I think the print will look great with my gray CH boots from last year's NAS. Do I need to shorten this dress?

#4-#6-T Tahari Dress and Blazer
Trying to plan in advance for professional work days. Do I need to shorten this dress?

#7-#8-T Tahari Blazer
Two more views of the blazer, I was melting by now (it's 90F + and I am wearing winter clothes outside!) This jacket reminds me of one that was popular last year, I think it was by Hinge? I liked the non-cropped sleeves.

Sidenote: I saw and tried the Trouve Shrunken Blazer on page 19 (it comes in the camel and a plaid [or perhaps it's a tweed] print) and Halogen wool blend cape on page 16. The Trouve blazer was a runner up to the T Tahari one, but the longer sleeve length and collar won out. The Halogen cape is very nice but very large on me. I think it would work well on someone tall.

I loooooove the first dress to pieces! As Queen of Belts, I think it looks better with the belt I personally would shorten the dress to be an above the knee

Wow, that first dress is so flattering to you with its neckline, shoulders, and bodice!! LOVE IT!! I like it better with the belt myself, but you could play with other belts too. . .

You look extremely professional in the #4-6 outfit! You will be well turned out for any professional work days. I am wondering if the blazer is a bit too big? I am NO expert, and I know that raising arms to take pics throws things off some, but let's see what others say.

ETA: length on #1 - not sure, but you may want to check it out WITH those boots and figure out hosiery before actually doing any shortening.

I tried on that dress today too and LOVED it. Looks even better on you. I'm still debating if I should get it. It definitely needs a belt.

I adore the first dress! It's a knockout on you! I like the length as-is. I like the black dress; I would maybe shorten it to above the knee. I am ambivalent about the jacket, but it's not my style so I'm having difficulty being objective :). The sleeves do look a tad long, but that would be a quick fix at the tailor's.

What Jonesy said. The jacket is my style, but I think it looks a little big. I bought last year's Hinge jacket and I found I had to size down for it to look better, otherwise it was too boxy (but more comfortable - sigh).

I think it all looks fantastic. Keep the dress lengths as is if you'll be wearing a heel, shorten just a tad if you'll be in flats.

The Tahari blazer isn't cheeky enough for your style. I vote return. Get the Trouve blazer in grey plaid

Wowza the purple dress with the belt is super and I love the black dress too, a classic. I'm not as big a fan of the jacket but if it fills a hole in the closet that you needed filled...

I really like the Suzy dress with the belt. I think to decide on the length you should first try it on with the boots to be sure. I can see it either way, but if you shorten it you will loose the band of cream. Second black dress length looks good as is. That blazer is stunning!

The blazer looks nice...but I have and LOVE the Trouve blazer, so I have to put in a vote in favor of that one too.

MNsara-Thanks! I was wondering the same thing about the fit of the blazer. It goes well with the dress but I wasn't sure it went well with "me."

Jjsloane-Thanks! I'd love to see the gray dress on you and I agree, it certainly needs a belt and it's easy to know where to put the belt because of the elastic.

Angie-Thanks! A killer for the purple dress makes it a keeper for me. I'm going to return to Nordstrom and see if I can try the Trouve blazer again. Hubby will be happy to hear the T Tahari blazer is getting a thumbs down, he did not care for it either.

LOVE the purple dress, Lisa. It's gorgeous just as is. I also like the black dress...Angie's idea of adding the Trouve blazer in the gray would look great with it. Length of both dresses looks fine.

I like the blazer also, but it's definitely very conservative. Try the Trouve and see what you think!

First dress I love, prefer with the belt, and would shorten just a bit. The 2nd dress is my favorite, I think you could make it work for the office or with different accessories as a great cocktail dress! I think the length on this one with heels will be fine. I really like the blazer, but I think the sleeves could be shorten a little and it would look even better!
