NAS plus one K/R - YouLookFab Forum

Finally, I managed to be home with a few minutes while the sun's still out to get some pics. Honest feedback is appreciated. Also, please ignore my needs-a-haircut hair (we need the blur tool for the web uploader like we have for the phone app!).

1/2 - yellow Nic & Zoe sweater closed and open, worn with a white top and jeans which is probably how I'd wear it a lot. Yellow is not usually in my personal color palette and I'm thinking it doesn't flatter me.

3 - the Sejour purple pencil skirt. Intellectually I know I should like this but I fear that with my hesitation about bold color combos the only thing I will wear it with is black.

4 - again the skirt, but with the elbow-length sleeve blazer I was asking about the other day. Not an outfit I'd actually wear probably, just to show the shape of it. 5 - styled with a dress how I'd probably wear it. 6/7 - an attempt at more jacket pictures. Is the length of the sleeves OK, or not so good?

8 etc - the famed leather jacket. The color is probably truest in the second pic - it's a taupey dark tan/light brown. I am so unsure about this and I'm trying to make a rational decision where the cost of the item is only one of the factors, but having a hard time of it.

I'm not experienced enough with jackets to comment on it - the fit looks good to me, but the color is very neutral (which may be what you're going for).

I like the yellow cardigan and purple skirt. Do you have a black/white/cream/neutral printed top? Yellow cardigan + neutral printed top + purple skirt = one wonderful outfit.

Purple skirt is fab. It looks so cute with the jacket - I much prefer the jacket with the skirt than the dress, which is a very *Frau-ish* look to me. The leather jacket fits you awesomely. It is a bit pale, I'll admit. Do you ever wear lipstick or scarves?

Well done going outside your comfort zone!

The sweater is a lovely colour and looks great in photo #2. I find that buttoning cardies part way gives the waist more definition (I have included a photo). The sweater would look great with cami as well.

The purple skirt is gorgeous on you and will work with your yellow sweater. Purple will also work with grey, navy and fushcia.

I think that jacket sleeves are perfect!

Yellow and purple? Y'all are a lot more bold than I think I'll ever be. I would feel like a cartoon! Thanks for the feedback. Honestly I am feeling more positive about the skirt, but not about the sweater. It's awesomely snuggly but I think my face looks ashen in the pics with it, as opposed to the pinks, purples, blues and greens I usually wear.

Rachy, what do you mean by Frauish? Like mumsy, old-fashioned? Is it the dress that is giving the vibe, or the fact that it's a jacket over a dress? Because that was how I was hoping to wear it, over sleeveless dresses - if I'm already wearing separates, I'd probably just throw on a cardigan, because I'm already not as dressy.

I am wondering as well whether I should look for a darker color in a jacket, something to echo my hair and have greater contrast with my skin rather than something so taupey.

qps, the last time I posted a WIW with a partially buttoned cardigan people told me it was unflattering that way I do like the line it creates, although on those of us who are of the chunkier persuasion sometimes it just looks like your sweater is too small and straining to contain you.

Why not wear the leather jacket with the purple skirt??

Also, I think your figure is gorgeous, please don't call yourself chunky! For instance, in #3 above you look particularly stunningly curvy!!

You actually look good in all these, although I'm not loving the unbuttoned cardi. I love how balanced your figure is.

Laura, the skirt is gorgeous and can be worn with colors other than black:). It fits you beautifully. The cardigan is not exciting me:(. The jacket is stunning and looks great on you. I would definitely keep.

1/2 - Yellow cardi: I find that colour very flattering on you! It picks up the red in your hair. I would complement the look with a hint of red on the lips (go for orange-red, tint or gloss).

3 /4 - Blue skirt: well it fits you to perfectly. I really dig the top you chose to wear it with too (3). From my computer screen it doesn't seem so bold. I understand when something speaks to you intellectually but not emotionally. What feelings do you have when you wear it? When you see yourself in it?

5-7: short sleeves black jacket: sensational.

8 ...: leather jacket. OMG!!! So much style! So cool! So versatile too! I would not hesitate one second and buy it. I can see this bringing up a notch any casual outfit so you can be out the door in a minute for a day meeting, etc. It has something that commands respect.

I love you in the skirt and in that gorgeous dress ---- you know, if you never wear the skirt with anything but neutrals, you will still have a few fab outfits! I think the blazer and white top combo works beautifully --- why would you prefer not to wear it like that?

If high-contrast yellow is not your thing (and I don't think you look grey in this shade at all!), how about low-contrast blue? powder blue? navy? grey? taupe? very pale muted pink? darker greens? another shade of violet?

I'm gonna be a nay-sayer on the jacket, though --- it *is* nice and I really like the texture and cut a lot, but I think a warmer or darker brown may be better for your colouring. Also, am not quite keen on the horizontal lines of the pockets --- wish they were diagonals instead. Just my two cents. It's not that it isn't working though, because it is; I just suspect you can do better still.

I love the yellow of the cardigan. The skirt is great on you. It can be worn with grey, navy, lots more than black. I do like it with that jacket, but also don't like the jacket with the dress as much. A longer sleeved jacket with the sleeves scrunched would look more modern to me with the dress (or the yellow cardigan!)
I like how the leather jacket fits, but the neckline would bother me as it looks like it will always stand up tall. Just a personal preference. I'm sure it's an investment so you want to be sure you love love love it.

You look wonderful in that skirt! You must keep! Pair it with all your other neutrals, grays, tans, whites, creams, mushroom, denim,etc.

I don't think the jacket does you justice, especially after seeing you in the skirt and t.

Fun skirt! I like everything here but especially the skirt. I would pair that yellow cardigan with the taupe jacket. These two are in the same color family/saturation hues to my eye.
