NAS Outfit Misses - YouLookFab Forum

Hi,

I've had some success at NAS, and some misses too. Here's a couple of them.

#1-The entire outfit-front view
I adored this outfit on Nordie's site. And I picked up everything right down to the shoes. What a miss!

#2-The entire outfit-side view

Outfit items:
Halogen Cotton Blend Duster Cardigan
Very, very long on me. Also, very soft.

Halogen Scarf Tied Neck Blouse
The print is too big for my taste. I also picked it up in two additional colors to try.

Halogen Pleat Front Wide Leg Pants (Petite)
Even in petite the fit is all wrong. But I'm going to keep an eye out for wide leg trousers in the future.

Sam Edelman Onyx Half Pointy Toe Pump
Not comfortable at all.

#3-Nontraditional twinset

Leith Waterfall Open Front Cardigan
I was intrigued with the idea to pair this with the coordinating dress for a modern twinset look. The cardigan is super soft. But the dress did not work for me which negates keeping the cardigan.

#4-Leith Crepe Trapeze Dress
I really do not like the fit of this dress on me.

My misses, could be your wins. One never knows right?

It's good to have misses for the sake of that credit card.

Lisa, I think the last dress and cardi looks GREAT. Fab with boots and tights, or skinnies too. Why do you think it looks off?

Does the dress just seem too short? I wonder too what it would look like with tights and boots. The color and drape is beautiful.

I love reading your posts, hits, misses, and all! It is so helpful and insightful. Angie has a good point about trying the last outfit with tights/boots. Could be awesome. That's a fab colour on you. I tried the cardi and absolutely loved the softness & colour.

Strange how we're sometimes very drawn to things that don't work for us at all, isn't it? I've had the same experience a number of times.

That being said, I think the dress and the cardigan actually look fantastic on you! The color and drape are super flattering. Do you know what it is about the dress that makes you hesitate? If you don't keep the dress (and I hope you do), would you have use for the cardigan in your wardrobe?

Oooh. I really think the dress/cardi combination with tights and boots, and a long necklace would be gorgeous. The color is beautiful on you.

Adding to the chorus or trying the dress and Leith cardi with skinnies. It looks like a great color and fit as a tunic.

The burgundy outfit, I agree, is a fab color and silhouette for you.
Was it a problem because the dress is short? It does seem to call for tights or leggings --is that a combo that works for your situations? But I can see that if it takes too much trouble to style or is not the right weight for weather and so on, it is not good to keep. It is at least an "almost", so something to keep an eye out for.

Angie-Thanks! And yes, my credit card has been smoking after NAS this year. I've found a number of great pieces. For the dress, to sport as a tunic, I would want it shorter, more mid thigh than it currently is. I do adore the idea and am keeping an eye out for another non-traditional cardigan combination.

AviaMariah-Thanks! I actually don't think the dress is short enough if I wanted to sport it as a tunic. Or it is too short, if I want to sport it on it's own as a dress.

Jackiec-Thanks! I agree, the cardigan is very soft. A lot softer than the dress itself.

Windchime-Thanks! I will not keep the cardigan by itself, I only purchased it to pair with the dress as a twinset look. The length of the dress itself is too short to stand as a dress on it's own, and too long to be a tunic paired with skinny jeans. At least to my eye.

Beth, Carole and Joy-Thanks! The dress/cardigan as a twinset is a nice change from the standard shell/cardigan look.

Unfrumped-Thanks! The dress/cardigan was a stretch look, and after a bunch of must keeps from NAS already, I had to be blown away by the combination to keep this outfit. I like it, but the length of the dress bothers me too much to keep it.
